2023 Looking Forward to - Realising Potential, Professional Connections, Feeling Empowered
Happy New Year 2023!
First aid kit is an important tool in quickly responding to accidents to ensure that injuries can be efficiently and promptly dealt with before a trained medical professional is available to administer more specialised treatment. First aid kits in schools are especially helpful as children often get into accidents that need swift care in order to prevent things from escalating.
Our students conducted a survey on the availability of First aid kits in Govt schools of Mandya District. After mapping the availability of First aid kits, an awareness program was conducted in 65 Government schools and First aid kits were handed over to 60 Government schools.
Transport facilities are essential elements to drive growth and unlock potential in the rural India. Good public transport connectivity helps commerce, allow populations to access opportunities such as education, jobs, health, culture and social activities seamlessly.
But rural mobility has received far less attention from decision makers. Our students conducted a survey and awareness program at Sir. M Vishweshwaraiah PG Centre, Tubinakere, Mandya. The outcome was submitted to the KSRTC department and after several requests and follow-ups our students were successful in getting public transport authorities extend bus facilities to these area. Nearly 800+ rural people stand benefitted by these initiatives.
Gram panchayats are responsible for the overall development of the village and play a key role in providing basic services vital for the health and well-being of rural people, like drinking water and sanitation. Gram panchayat schemes can provide relief to countless rural issues. However, insufficient information about the scheme is preventing people from accessing its benefits. Implementing the IVRS system to provide information on these schemes will help rural citizens to get access to schemes on finger tips which further helps in overall development of the village.
Problems in need of solutions range from simple personal tasks (e.g. how to turn on an appliance) to complex issues in business and technical fields
Students of MSW working on a specific problem of farmers to increase reach to buyer networks, and get better rates for their produce.
More than 60% of irrigated agriculture and 85% of drinking water supplies are dependent on groundwater. Unfortunately, groundwater is susceptible to pollutants.
Drinking contaminated groundwater can have serious health effects. Wildlife can also be harmed by contaminated groundwater. Other long term effects such as certain types of cancer may also result from exposure to polluted water.
Our students conducted a village survey in Nanjangud taluk and collected 30 underground water samples. The collected water samples were tested and outcomes were analyzed under the guidance of MIM mentors. Students discussed the analysis outcome with surrounding factory officers. Few awareness programs were also conducted for the villagers about groundwater and prevention of pollution.

People learn more from visualization. This Manasa Mithra team worked to create awareness on cleanliness and promoted the idea that cleanliness always starts with you. A small act of throwing a single piece of paper into the right place can save from future pollution and can make campus clean.
The self responsibility and self initiative to keep campus clean was the transformation of ideas into reality.
This student team from K R nagara could be the reason young women will come back to college or will stay in college and complete education, all because they made a ladies toilet at college functional.
The team renovated the ladies toilets in their college redoing the floors, painting the walls, and redoing the plumbing lines. They have also created a prototype of a toilet paper dispenser.
