Journey of a saree to quilts,dresses & more

Got order to make Diwanset from two jari ka sadi , so I designed 4 cushion covers out of pallu, and both side used main sari ! Uploaded pictures of both the sides with cushions & in one picture just added Highlighter of my own cushions to give picture effect!

Latest quilts made by sarres for my daughter’s friend, who came from US ! All quilts made from her mother’s sarees ! Each quilt shown in picture up side down & reverse!
Colour combinations are made matching to each other !

Hii friends you all know I design quilts from 2 sarres both sides! During this COVID period I wanted to make one for gifting ! Difficult siatuation as I had one single printed cloth to use for one side !but what to use other side ? Market closed so no use of going for buying new cloth ! So my search inside my house started & using different meterial but offcourse colours were blending with each other , I think I cud design the best quilt amongst what I made till last quilt ! Presenting both the sides but in next post! Have used one saree border & pallu design for main quilt ie front side !

Two sarees , two sides , recron inside makes this beautiful bedspread! When two sarees used both sides no lining needed , & expenses for same can b avoided ! If we use cotton saree inside it can b used as comforter also! Choice is yours !

This beautiful coloured butte jari saree used for making bedspread, for which plain cream coloured lining is used ! Jari sarees bedspread looks beautiful, specially on festival occasions !

This bedspread is made from saree using its print one side & lining to other side ! 2 contrast pillows given with it by using different cloth not saree meterial! Thin saree border used to design pillow covers ! Other means back side also looks good with same pillows!

This Diwan set is also made from saree ! Very pretty combination & design made me think to design Diwanset ! 2 load covers, 4 pillows & one Diwan cover , all made from 1 saree only ! Back side we put matching lining to it (अस्तर ) !design bed spread or Diwan set depend upon design of the saree ! Means my ideas work accordingly!

This table cloth cover is made from 1 single saree , using saree border for making frill of the table cloth ! Motives are taken from saree to make table mats & 1 single runner made from saree pallu using center design of the pallu ! Saree had nice colour combination & print ! But as it was too big print , my client was not ready to wear & as synthetic, bedspread wud hv been uncomfortabl so we decided to make tablecloth with runner & mats & accordingly Desining is done !

This quilt is designed by purchasing new fabric & these are two sides of the same quilt, showing closeup of the print & also pillows made matching to the quilt!

This table cover was designed by me for gifting to my friends 75th Birthday ! This is with set of 6 table mats! With grey table cover ,mats set was with contrast oranged colour elephant prints , closeup showing clear print & colour combination.recrone inside with quitting done .

That’s our Tulsi, all set to get married with the lord of sustenance, Vishnu. Whether it is health, economy or ecology, without sustainability, they lead no where. This is the indigenous thought behind all festivals and especially Tulsi vivaah which actually deserves to be celebrated everyday. And what better way to celebrate then with local, native, farm and forest produce as Prasad?

1. Sugarcane - Our oldest detox food, rejuvenates the liver and keeps the skin glowing in the winter sun. (will make a full post on sugarcane soon).

2. Ber - strengthens the immune system (great for kids who fall sick frequently) and improves diversity of our diet.

3. Chincha or tamarind - a great digestive, even the seeds make for a smashing drink when mixed with buttermilk. It even makes it to the UNFAO’s list of Neglected and Under-utilised species (NUS)

4. Amla - the king of winters, fights infections (and even the evil eye 😉) with its high levels of Vit C. Have it by itself, or as chyawanprash, sherbet or even a moramba.

5. Til Gul - a winter delicacy with essential fatty acids to add chaar chand to the celebrations.

New quilts designed by me for exhibition display!

This quilt was made & designed from silk saree for single bed .it was ready B4 my Exibition in Nagpur but as my customer had made as gift to her mother on her Birthday & wanted to keep secret I cudnot post it on page & then just skipped from my mind .

This is a latest quilt designed by me from printed silk saree 1 side& dark brown saree on reverse soda & last picture showing half half print of both sides .

This quilt designed by me with the purchase of different coloured printed cloth. Front side darK coloured orange coloured print with green printed border & two pillow covers . Reverse side cloth is light pink with printed borders put making cross design. Pink coloured cloth is a very soft cloth like shawl so it can b good comforter !

This quilt was designed by purchasing two different materials, & in center saree border is used to enhance btrween two ! At the back side full Cotten saree used ,with recron between two layers.

These quilts are made not from a saree but buying different pieces of meterial & combination made by joining the pieces & making border for the same .First four pictures is a front side of the quilt & next 4 pictures are of the back side of the quilt . They are designed & made for gifting purpose so made of new cloth meterial ,no recrone used instead muslin cloth between two sides . This has costed approximately with meterial purchased,muslin cloth & stitching quilting charges included between 1500 to 1600 Rs . Hope friends you like it .

Another set of quilt send to pondicherry,yellow synthetic saree with brick coloured border used for front side ,with pillow covers made of Cotten meterial.Reverse side is a Cotten saree with beautiful design ,used according to its original print .again Cotten dhoti layers are used between doing quilting done for all three layers . Meterial despatched with speed post.

Set of new quilts despatched to pondicherry! This is a pink coloured jari butti sari ,designed double bed spread with pillow covers made with new purchased meterial ,but jari border used to enhance them .Back side lineing Meterial used & between two layers instead of recrone ,cotten dhotis used with quilting made to all three layers .it looked like traditional quilt .

Another set of two sarees used for making bed spreads cream with brown one side ,cream with pink another side.Dark purple is another 1 single bed spread . No recrone used in any of these spreads .

These are two different sarees again used for making bed spreads .these floral print of cushion cover is fortunately matching to all saree spreads .
