Swati Pandey, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra Airport Development Co. Ltd (MADC) recently conducted a first-of-its-kind round table meeting ‘SANGLAAP’ with heads of various companies in MIHAN. Pandey initiated the concept to share the various developments done by MADC, it’s future plans and initiatives towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with all the stake holders of MIHAN. A detailed presentation showcasing various focus area in the field of upgradation of infrastructure, facilities to existing stake holders, speedy approvals, rapid disposal of vacant land and CSR activities was given to the company heads present in the roundtable meeting. It was informed that various infrastructure facilities has been upgraded like resurfacing of roads, 24X7 power supply, procurement of 2 new fire tenders, water bowser and recue boat and induction of additional fire men at the Fire Department and other infrastructure.

Further, Pandey also informed the participants that MADC shall be constructing a 3.5 MLD sewage treatment plant which shall be ready and operational in 3-4 months. Apart from MIHAN SEZ and Nagpur International Airport, MADC is upgrading the Shirdi Airport under Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) with a new terminal building, she informed that Shirdi Airport which started with a facility of 300 passengers is now catering 2,000 passengers daily and hence new terminal building is getting ready to facilitate the ever-increasing passengers at Shirdi and efforts are being taken to have a direct connectivity from Nagpur to Shirdi. She further updated about various development at other airports like Ratnagiri Airport, Amravati Airport, which are being developed by MADC. Pandey briefed the forum on various initiatives taken on the CSR front like skill development and empowering women PAPs of MIHAN.

Pandey also appealed to all stake holders to join hands towards CSR contribution for PAPs of MIHAN area in the area of health, skill development, employment and focusing more on ecological development appealed to all stake holders to jointly develop a ‘Green Zone’ on a 2 acre plot in MIHAN. The meeting was hosted by HCL Ltd at their campus in MIHAN SEZ. Arvind Kumar – Delivery Centre Head at TCS, Shailesh Aware, Centre Head – HCL, Rachit Bhandar, Delivery Centre Lead – Infosys Ltd., Manish Agarwal – Operations Head, Tech Mahindra, Sameer Bendre – COO Persistent Systems Ltd., Amit Kaleasst. Vice President, Global Logic India Pvt. Ltd., Ashish Kohle, Head – Human Resource, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, and others were present in the meeting.

Nagpur: The development commissioner for Mihan-Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has issued exit orders to 14 companies for remaining a nonstarter — some of which having remained so for about l5 years.
This is the first time that any unit has been expelled from the SEZ. These were small investors, with land ranging up to 3 acres, allotted to the companies. Action on bigger players is expected soon, said sources.
The action, which was initiated over a week ago, comes because the letters of approval (LOA) of these units had expired and were not renewed. The LOA — issued by the ministry of commerce — is a permit granted to a company for running operations in the SEZ and claim tax benefits. The operations have to be started in a stipulated period after the LOA is issued, though extensions can be taken from time to time.
In Mihan, there are 33 companies without a valid LOA and without operational units. If the bigger units too are handed out exit orders, only a handful of investors would remain in Mihan, a source said. Sources said there are about 50 units in Mihan currently.
All the procedures, including getting customs clearance were followed, after which the exit orders were issued, the source said.

Baidu placed AI chip order from Huawei in shift away from Nvidia: Sources

Chinese AI firm Baidu has ordered 1,600 artificial intelligence chips from Huawei, signaling a shift away from US company Nvidia. The order, placed in August, is worth approximately $61.83 million and Huawei is expected to deliver all the chips by the end of the year. Although Huawei's Ascend chips are seen as inferior to Nvidia's, they are the most sophisticated domestic option in China. The move comes as US pressure prompts Chinese companies to seek alternatives to Nvidia's products. Baidu has previously relied on Nvidia's chips but has now turned to Huawei.

Nagpur: Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari said he and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis have held talks with UAE’s Lulu Group for investing in Mihan. “There are plans to make a word-class convention centre in Mihan and the group is keen on investing ₹2,000 crore in the project,” said Gadkari.
The convention centre alone will be creating one lakh jobs once the international airport is fully developed, said the minister and also talked of having a floating platform in Futala that would have interiors like the Taj Mahal and hydrogen balloons flying people from Telangkhedi Lake to Ambazari Lake.
Gadkari was speaking at a Tedx programme on infrastructure and development of Nagpur.
He said the projects in Telangkhedi and Ambazari lakes have a potential to create as much as 10,000 jobs. “Along with the Futala fountain, an 11-storey building is coming up. This would also have revolving restaurants, parking for 1,100 cars and 800 scooters. There will be at least 25 restaurants in an area of 5,000 square feet. There will be street food joints on the same road. Even those vendors will be getting slots at rates within their reach,” he said. Four floors of the 11-storey building have been constructed so far.
Gadkari said that the floating platform in Futala will have capacity to hold 1,000 persons where different events can be held.
The minister also said he plans to develop the Telangkhedi garden as lotus garden with 800 species of the flower. He said he is very passionate about the project and has given Rs50 lakh from his MP’s fund. Similarly, there would be 5500 species of rose in the Botanical Garden close by.
Currently, Mihan has 68,000 jobs and the minister plans to take it to one lakh by the end of his term. He also spoke of making hydrogen from sewage water. He announced that a major educational institute is coming up soon and students may not have to go to Mumbai or Pune for studies.
