To pay tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 134th birth anniversary, Rotaract Club of Rayat College of Law, Railmajra celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti on 17 April, 2024. Prof. (Dr.) Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Chairman, Sahitya Academy, Haryana and former Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh was keynote speaker during the event. In his keynote address Prof. Agnihotri highlighted the unheard achievements of Baba Sahib Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. He motivated the youngsters to not think of B.R. Ambedkar as just the father of our constitution but as a personality whose ideas have contributed towards the overall development of our society. He exhorted all present to study thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar. Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kaushik, Dean, College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh also emphasized on relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideas in present time. He said that many problems in in the present society can be solved if we derive inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas. Sh. Devinder Singh, National Chairman, Sapth Sindhu Ambedkar Study Circle and Sh. Parveen Kumar Rao (Coordinator, Samajik Samrashta & Youth Affairs, Chandigarh were Guests of Honours during this event.
In the second event of the series Project Ambedkar, the Rotaract Club organized a Declamation Competition on the topic “Ambedkarite social Justice stands for the liberty, equality and fraternity of all human being”. More than 20 participants from various colleges, universities and Rotaract clubs participated in the competition and presented their views on the topic. The panel of judges included Dr. Mahendra Singh (Vice-Principal, Rayat College of Law), Senior Advocate B.S. Khaira (Senior Panel Counsel for Govt. of India at Punjab and Haryana High Court) and Adv. Akshay Madaan (District Literacy Committee Chair, RID 3080). Earlier Teacher-Coordinator of the Club, Dr. Manish Kumar delivered welcome address. He informed that Rotaract Club of Rayat College of Law is working tirelessly to spread awareness regarding various social and environmental issues under leadership of its president Rishabh Singh and Secretary Urvashi. For its project ‘Bhachpan Bachao’ the Club has received appreciation award at the national level. He appreciated the contribution of president Rishabh towards the achievements of the Club.
The winners of the competition were awarded with certificates, books on the life of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
In the event the Club also felicitated many social workers for their contribution towards upliftment of people facing hardships. Other clubs namely Rotaract Club of Chandigarh Midtown, Rotaract Club of Mohali City, Rotaract Club of Chandigarh Himalyan also graced the event.
