Honestly, it doesn't have to be.

Feminism and women's rights are all about standing up for women who are oppressed, mistreated, or face atrocities because of their gender at the hand of anyone - be they men or women.

Feminism and Women's rights are to bring the world to balance and respect men and women alike - as should be the case and may not be.

It's not about pushing men down to make women rise.
..and it would also help if more men of goodwill lend their voice to this cause.

One Word of the Week | Radiate

Here is something we rarely stop to think about...the energy we are emitting...and its impact on our career or business growth...

Take a moment to think about someone you know professionally, and like. Use one word to describe that person e.g. Joy, Happy, Great Communicator, Influential, Persuasive, Good Hearted, etc

Now take a moment to think about someone you know professionally and perhaps prefer to avoid. Use one word to describe that person. e.g. Irritating, Annoying, Angry, Abusive, Pushy, etc

Now repeat this process to describe Organizations you associate with in your business should you wish to.

Irrespective of whether you are a Corporate Professional, CXO, Entrepreneur, or Organization - you can tell that every other individual/Organization radiates a specific quality.

Pick one quality you would want to radiate and be associated with. You may not be operating at that frequency just yet - but choose it and work towards operating more from the frequency of the word you want to be associated with.

How does this help you?

If you are attracting individuals/organizations radiating a quality that you find less than desirable, you start flipping the switch inside you to operating and building more desirable qualities within yourself to attract individuals/organizations with more desirable qualities and better experiences.

Do you feel the carrot-or-stick approach doesn't work for you?

People perform best when you trust them to create the results.

People perform best when you give them the freedom to tap into their inner power to create and be creative in their approach.

I am not saying this doesn't mean no updates/reviews. It just means no micromanagement and an approach that isn't built on a carrot/stick approach.

When you keep giving carrots, people perform because they are motivated by the carrot ... but the other approach of giving a stick and instilling fear usually has the reverse effect on people.

What do you do if you are in a work culture/environment that operates on a 'Carrot and Stick' approach?

1. Enjoy the carrots when you get them and use it to fuel your forward movement but don't get carried away

2. When you get the stick - I agree it's not very pleasant...but see what is the learning you can get from it, strengthen your ability to handle a difficult situation/circumstance, and learn how to create an environment for others that is based on inspiration, motivation where people can perform fully to their highest potential without a carrot/stick approach.

If you are an Organization looking to hire or elevate someone to a leadership title/position...
If you are a CXO/Corporate Professional/Entrepreneur looking to work with a team, clients, or service providers.....then don't associate with the people who just seem good at their work unless they have the right value systems and right attitude...

Hiring/working with a team / Elevating someone evaluation parameter: Good at work & Great attitude or someone who can be groomed to build the area they lack in

Work with clients and service providers you resonate with - don't just take on a client or a service provider because you have no choice or feel you need to work with anyone who pays you.

More often than not you will get the money but a client or a service provider that ruins your mental/emotional health and has ethics lower than a caterpillar's belly button.

It's just not worth it. Build a business model/screening process that brings in only the right people.

You don't have to work with everybody. You just have to work with the right people. In your personal space as well, you don't have to have a huge circle - it's okay to have a few people you can really count on.

Do you have big dreams?

Here are some elements limiting you from going out there and getting it:

1. Thought "I can't get it all"
2. Emotion: Fear of Failure

One word One expression can change your life!
One Word of the Week | Resonance

Have you ever tried rapport building professionally only to find that you were rebuffed?

There could be different reasons for this:
1. The timing is not right
2. There needs to be a greater degree of rapport for things to move forward
3. One walked in with an intention of expectation

and there could be one last reason.....and that is lack of resonance.

Resonance is when you and the other vibrate at the same frequency. This could mean:
1. Complementary/Aligned vision and mission
2. Similar values
3. You just vibe and you can't put a finger on why that is!

If the rejection is because of factors other than resonance, then wait for the right time, work on building rapport, have no expectations, and do your bit but if your gut feel tells you it's an issue with a lack of resonance - then:

1. Walk away and don't push your luck with someone who doesn't resonate; or
2. Evolve yourself to a point that you vibrate on the same or higher frequency and the other person is excited about building the rapport; or
3. Keep evolving and work with people you love working with.

Don't discount it. Don't stop their career progression because of your biases or desire to control.

Times should change. Respect should be a core concept because there are a lot of people suffering in Organisations.

Don't let that be something you utter because it's hip to say, or it's the trend. Be genuine. Make respect to, and 'genuine' respect to each individual the new cool. People can smell genuine from what's not.

Real change doesn't come from the words that are uttered if they aren't backed by thoughts, a heart and action that support those words.

Leadership | Leaders who Lead

As a Corporate Professional, you may have lived 1000 deaths in your corporate career and thought of quitting.

As a CXO, the level of responsibility/pressure is so high that it can get to you! People assume it's a cakewalk and have high expectations from you and if they don't get their way you get brickbats. It's not easy - we know.

As an Entrepreneur, a lot rests on your shoulders. Before your business bears fruit, you have probably had to make a lot of investments that you didn't have and have had to meet many frogs along the way who see great value in your product/service but are too cheap to pay.

As an Organization, there may be many deals you don't crack before you get that one breakthrough deal that makes you wipe your tears away finally!

Irrespective of who you are and where you are at, I know it's so easy to give up. Every time you reach rock bottom - remember that if you continue, you will still stand a chance.
