Field visit to Okhla Bird Sanctuary

Experts: Mr. Rakesh khatri, Founder & Director, Eco roots foundation
Mr. Animesh Kapoor, Naturalist, Freelancer

Brief description of the visit: The students were taken to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary with the ENVIS Staff. In the beginning Mr. Animesh Kapoor gave a brief description of the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and importance of wetlands. After this small session, students started a bird trail in the sanctuary with the supervision of Mr. Animesh Kapoor. It was an encouraging visit for the students where they, counter various birds species which involves grey heron, common moorhen, green bee eater, Eurasian collar dove, red naled Ibis, etc. After the trail, Mr. Rakesh Khatri and Mr. Animesh Kapoor conducted a fun activity to interact with the students, and continued with another activity, i.e., Bird Nest making. We all enjoyed that activity and the motive behind that was really beautiful. Mr. Khatri conveyed this message, that how a bird took 15 days to make that single nest, which was actually build in just 20 minutes by us and that's how one can help in the conservation.
