1.)Why the efficiency of superheat
Rankine cycle is higher than that of
simple Rankine cycle? Ans: Because the mean temperature of
heat addition is higher for superheat
cycle. 2.)Why steam is in open space and
water inside tube in condensers used in
power plants ? Ans: Overall heat transfer coefficient can
be increased by increasing velocity of
water in tube. Further steam needs
more space due to higher specific
volume. 3.)What is the name given to combined
process of cooling and humidifying ? Ans: Evaporative Cooling. 4.) Which refrigerant is used for ice plant
and transport refrigeration ? Ans: Ammonia and CO2 respectively.

Vehicles can be classified by the position
of the engine and drive wheels, and the
number of drive wheels:-
1)FF (Front-engine, Front-drive)
Because a FF vehicle does not have a
propeller shaft, a spacious interior can be
realized, thus achieving excellent
comfort. 2) FR (Front-engine, Rear-drive)
Because a FR vehicle has a good weight
balance, it excels in controllability and
stability. 3) MR (Midship-engine, Rear-drive)
Because a MR vehicle has a good weight
balance on the front and rear axles, it
excels in controllability. 4) 4WD (4-Wheels Drive)
Because a 4WD vehicle drives with four
wheels, it can operate under poor
conditions in a stable manner. Its weight
is greater than that of other types of
vehicles.
Six-Stroke Engine
The six-stroke engine is a type of internal
combustion engine based on the four-
stroke engine, but with additional
complexity intended to make it more
efficient and reduce emissions. Two types
of six-stroke engine have been developed since the 1890s: In the first approach, the engine captures
the heat lost from the four-stroke Otto
cycle or Diesel cycle and uses it to power
an additional power and exhaust stroke
of the piston in the same cylinder.
Designs use either steam or air as the working fluid for the additional power
stroke. The pistons in this type of six-
stroke engine go up and down three
times for each injection of fuel. There are
two power strokes: one with fuel, the
other with steam or air The second approach to the six-stroke
engine uses a second opposed piston in
each cylinder that moves at half the
cyclical rate of the main piston, thus
giving six piston movements per cycle.
Functionally, the second piston replaces the valve mechanism of a conventional
engine but also increases the
compression ratio. The currently notable
designs in this class include two designs
developed independently: the Beare
Head engine, invented by Australian Malcolm Beare, and the German Charge
pump, invented by Helmut Kottmann.

About steering systems The purpose of the steering system is to
allow the driver to control the direction
of the vehicle by turning the front
wheels. Together with the suspension
system, it plays an important role in
ensuring easy, comfortable driving all the way from the low speed range to the
high-speed ranges. A good and efficient steering system has
to ensure the following: 1.Excellent Maneuverability: When the
car is cornering on a narrow, twisting
road, the steering system must be able to
turn the front wheels sharply yet easily
and smoothly. 2.Proper Steering Effort: If nothing is
done to prevent it, steering effort will be
greater when the car is stopped and will
decrease as the speed of the car
increases. Therefore, in order to obtain
easier steering and better feel of the road, the steering should be made lighter
at low speeds and heavier at high
speeds. 3.Smooth Recovery: While the car is
turning, the driver must hole the steering
wheel firmly. After the turn is completed,
however, recovery- that is, the return of
the wheels to the straight-ahead
position- should occur smoothly as the driver relaxes the force with which he is
turning the steering wheel. 4.Minimum transmission of Shock from
Road Surface: Loss of steering wheel
control and transmission of kickback due
to road surface must not occur.
What is DTSI Technology & DTS-Si
Technology ? In DTSi, instead of 1 we are using 2 spark
plugs. Flame front formed is able to
consume more air-fuel mixture as
compared with 1 spark plug, thus more
complete burning and more efficiency. In DTS-Si, with addition of 2nd spark
plug, what they are doing is relocating
valves position. With proper designing of
inlet and outlet valves you can induce
extra swirl for inoming air fuel mixture.
Due to turbulence, extra efforts are provided for proper mixing of air and
fuel. (We can not allow petrol to go in
liquid droplet form, it should be finely
atomized). With well atomized air fuel
mixture, efficiency increases.
Turbomachinery, in mechanical
engineering, describes machines that
transfer energy between a rotor and a
fluid, including both turbines and
compressors. While a turbine transfers
energy from a fluid to a rotor, a compressor transfers energy from a rotor
to a fluid. The two types of machines are
governed by the same basic relationships
including Newton's second Law of
Motion and Euler's energy equation for
compressible fluids. Centrifugal pumps are also turbomachines that transfer
energy from a rotor to a fluid, usually a
liquid, while turbines and compressors
usually work with a gas.
Think. . . .
Difference between pump and
compressor? Basically a Pump is used for liquid or fluid
to transform it to a much high pressure
head while a Compressor is used for
gases to transform from low to a much
high pressure. From Mechanical Engineering point of
view liquid is incompressible so
Compressor cannot be used for liquid
substances.
