Maharashtra: Protests were held all over Maharashtra condemning suspension of MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. In Kolhapur, CPI(M) State Secretary and CC Member Comrade Uday Narkar participated in the protest along with leaders of other parties.

TN: CPI(M) State Secretary and CCM Comrade K Balakrishnan visited the places affected by the heavy rains and flooding in Tirunelveli district. He distributed relief materials to the affected families. State secretariat member Com. K Kanagaraj, state committee member com. K G Baskaran, district secretary com. K Sriram and others were present.

Odisha: At the call of the INDIA bloc , protest demonstrations and satyagraha were held all over the state against suspension of MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. CPI(M) State Secretary Comrade Ali Kishor Patnaik participated in the protest in Bhubaneswar along with leaders of other parties.

State Secretary, Prakash Viplav spoke about the importance of opposition unity to counter these authoritarian measures.

Along with District Secretary, Nawal Kishore, Sanjay Sharma (JMM), Uday Prakash (Congress), Suresh Paswan (RJD), Triveni Verma (JDU), Forward Bloc took part in the joint protest.

Jharkhand: On the concluding day of public hearings organised by the CPI(M), two programmes were held - one in Pakur and other in Gomani. The participants were mainly women bidi workers, MNREGA workers and small landholding kisans. In Pakur, students attended and complained that there was not a single science lab in any govt school. Programmes of struggle were decided. A big group of Shershahvadi Muslims who are OBCs but are being denied certificates met the leaders with a request for help. They especially mentioned the role of CPI(M) leader Md Iqbal in their struggle for justice. Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, Prakash Viplav, Gopin Soren, Shibani Pal, Debashish Dutta Gupta and other CPI(M) leaders attended the public hearings.

BJP shameless support to its MP Brij Bhushan has led to grave injustice to women wrestlers.

The BJP, in passing such draconian laws without the presence of opposition is going against the people's mandate and completely destroying democratic processes in the country.

Rajmahal, Jharkhand: Continuing the programme of public hearings — CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat, Prakash Viblav, Md Iqbal and others attended three hearings in Raj Mahal area today.

The main problem here is that the land of thousands of Bengali Muslims who have been residing here for 75 to 100 years, paying land tax is now under threat. Affected people requested the CPI(M) to take up the issue.

Only the CPIM will fight for us, they said.

AIDWA and SGMT jointly organised the 6th
Sushila Gopalan memorial lecture in Kolkata. The
lecture was delivered by Justice S Muralidhar.

He highlighted the historical importance of the struggle
for constitutional rights of women. He emphasised
that such a struggle should be linked to the struggle
for social transformation with particular focus on caste
and women's equality.

He particularly noted the role of many luminaries in the
field of justice and also spoke of the historical
significance of the report of the committee on Status
of Indian women (1971). His speech highlighted the
challenges before Indian women today and elaborated
on the role of women in bringing about judicial reform.
Finally, he said that we have to continue to raise issues
without fear to bring about social transformation.

Kerala Governor Unfit for Post

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Kerala Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan, has over-stepped all boundaries with his constant political attacks on the elected state government and his grossly erratic behavior. The latest instance is his statement that there is “the beginning of the collapse of the Constitutional machinery in the State”. Such threats leveled against the state government will be rejected outright by the people of the state.

The Governor is facing protests from students after he packed the nominated seats in the Senates of Kerala and Calicut universities with RSS nominees, misusing his position as Chancellor of these universities. While the students have the democratic right to protest peacefully, the Governor has sought to blame the Chief Minister for these protests and made insulting references to him.

This is no way for a person holding the Constitutional post of Governor to behave and he has proved himself unworthy of continuing in that post.
