Happened to meet a very enthusiastic and fairly young set of teachers at 'The Millennium School', Greater Noida. Spent a day with them discussing the implementation of 'Innovative Teaching Strategies' in the classroom. Teachers practically experienced 20 strategies and identified how to differentiate these strategies for making the classroom more inclusive.
Teachers felt happy and shared in their reflection that they could get the answers to many of the challenges that they face in the classroom.
Heartfelt appreciation to the 'Millennium Team' for organising the training programme with utmost perfection.
Special Thanks to Dr. Himani Tyagi, Principal, & Ms. Ritu Gupta, Coordinator- Academics and Professional Development for arranging this training.
On this auspicious occasion, may your dreams shine as bright as the Diwali lights. May you attract all the good things that you desire and deserve. May you manifest your dreams and goals. Happy Diwali!

Understanding 'Habits of Mind' is crucial in managing our own attitude as well as that of others in a particular situation. This important topic was taken up with the faculty of Amity International group of schools wherein PGT teachers of different branches across Delhi-NCR participated.
They contributed their thoughts on the Fixed and Growth mindset, identified the difference between a Coach and a Mentor, experienced a Coaching conversation, and also delved into the significance of using this with students. It was indeed enriching to be amongst a set of powerful influencers who are shaping our next generation.
Thank you, Ms. Ameeta Mohan, Principal, Amity International, Pushp Vihar, Ms. Anita Satia, Sr. Consultant, HR & Training, and Ms. Arti Chopra, Principal, Amity, Gurgaon for providing me an opportunity to be a part of this enlightening discussion.
Spent two very fruitful days with the faculty of ASPAM Scottish School, Noida in decoding the National Curriculum Framework 2023. Together we discussed various aspects of the framework.
Curricular areas were explored by specific departments. Day 2 witnessed the unfolding of Competency-based Education and Assessments therein.
Teachers participated enthusiastically and ensured that they will integrate the NCF into their lessons in its true spirit.
Thank you Ms. Meenakshi Zarabi for thinking about this significant aspect and bringing it to your teachers.
An active day spent with Teachers of the GD Goenka group of schools, joining from different schools across the country.
It was an enthusiastic lot of teachers who actively participated to understand various active learning strategies and how to differentiate them to give the right level of challenge to the students thereby making the class more inclusive.
It was delightful to see that the teachers absorbed every bit of the learning and were excited to take it forward to the students.
Thank you, Ms. Bharti Sharma, Ms. Neeta Rastogi, and Ms. Rajni Jauhari for making me a part of this experience.
An exciting and enriching day spent with the brilliant teachers of Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini discussing about Comptency Based Assessment.
Teachers explored various key components of a good assessment, delved into defining competencies and linking them to assessment objectives, reviewed the construct of a few competency-based questions, and finally created the same.
They created test- items with appropriate marking schemes ensuring the validity and reliability of the assessment.
As a post-training activity, each department created and submitted a set of 15 competency-based questions for verification and feedback.
Hoping, that they use the same in creating meaningful assessments for their students.
Overall, a wonderful experience !!
Thank you BBPS Team for all the arrangements and great hospitality!!
A differentiating factor of National Curriculum Framework 2023, is the connection it makes to our ancient knowledge and belief systems at multiple places. It is a real delight reading this document.
Sharing an excerpt quoted from 'Taittiriya Upanishad'
As the Taittiriya Upanishad tells us, the Teacher is the first letter, the student is the last letter, knowledge is the meeting place and instruction is the link.
Ways of the Guru !
According to Shri Aurobindo, the three instruments of the Guru are teaching, example and influence!!
Wise teachers do not seek to impose themselves or their opinions on the passive acceptance of receptive minds. They seek to awaken much more than to instruct, they aim at the growth of faculties and experience by a natural process and free expansion. They prescribe a method as an aid, as a utilizable device, not as imperative formula, or a fixed routine.

Came across an interesting inter-disciplinary activity taken up by a math teacher as Prior Knowledge Activation for the topic Quadrilaterals. It is simple yet involves lot of creative thinking and application of learnt concepts. Promotes 21st century skills like Creative and Critical thinking.
The task can be made more complex for high ability students by imposing certain conditions (like Area restrictions or using quadrilaterals of some fixed dimensions etc..).
Creating a stimulating learning environment is the key to engaged learners and meaningful learning!!
More power to you Ms. Alka Srivastava (Faculty, Math Deptt. DPS Varanasi).

Active Learning Hack #03
We generally see that during presentation by one group the other groups continue discussing/talking. To ensure that everybody is alert and listening, ask all your students to face front once the group discussion is done. They should continue sitting where they are but face the board. So, in case, they need to get into groups again it is convenient.
In addition, let the presenters face the entire class. This will ensure the achievement of better learning outcomes from the group activity.
Active Learning Hack #02
Generally, the biggest problem which we face as teachers is to manage discipline during any activity. The noise level sometimes disrupts the activity itself. It is difficult to bring the children back in order. To overcome these challenges, it is always advisable to clearly state the expectations of behaviour along with the procedure of the activity.
Do not assume that the students will naturally do it.
Make your rules related to -
- the kind of noise level you want in the class,
- movement which is acceptable, and which is not.
- expected behaviour with group members
- expected time to finish the task
- what should they do if they have finished it before the expected time.
- how will they indicate if they need any help
There are large chances of students following the rules if stated just before the activity.
Active Learning Hacks #01
One of the mistakes which we as teachers generally do while engaging students in activities is to distribute resources first and then give instructions. This leads to students getting busy in exploring the resources and not listening to the instructions carefully. So, set the order right, thereby ensuring that students listen to all your instructions attentively.

An insightful interaction with the school leaders participating in the 2 Days IECS 76th School Leadership Workshop. Had a lovely time discussing with them the Art & Science of Metacognition. Special thanks to Prof. Handoo for inviting me to be a part of this wonderful Leadership Programme.
An enjoyable session on 'The Art and Science of Reflection' @ Jaypee Institute Of Information Technology, Noida. It was all fun making the participants reflect on reflection itself. They tried to identify the processes involved in reflection and how can one become a reflective practitioner.
Participants also analysed their own approaches to learning through an inventory and the session further extended to identifying the ways by which the skills of reflection can be fostered in the students.
A big thanks to Mrs. Anjali Malik, Principal, Jaypee Public School Noida for conceptualising and organising such a programme.

Another exhilarating and enriching experience with teachers at St. Martin's Diocesan School, Delhi Cantt.
Together we explored the ways of making assessments meaningful for students. Teachers introspected to find out their own conceptions of assessments and then moved on to learn various ways to conduct quick assessments while teaching.
They also learnt to map the test items to Bloom's taxonomy. Subsequently ventured into creating higher order Multiple Choice Type Questions and finally mooted on the significance of feedback in assessments.
Teachers' enthusiasm throughout the training programme is worth appreciation and it speaks highly about their commitment to learning.
Sincere thanks to the Principal Ms. K. Sudha for organising the programme and fostering a culture of learning in the school.
Fun filled learning session at Raghav Public School, Noida where the teachers learnt about Innovative teaching strategies which leads to active learning. Teachers also explored the possibilities of differentiating each strategy to make the classroom more inclusive. They deeply reflected on the probable reasons of active learning strategies not yielding their desired outcomes sometimes.
Thanks to the Principal Mrs. Richa Sharma for inviting me to her school and kudos to her enthusiastic team of teachers who made it a memorable experience.
