संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की ओर से जारी ताजा रिपोर्ट के अनुसार दुनियाभर में भुखमरी और इससे संबंधित कारणों से रोजाना 25 हजार लोग दम तोड़ रहे हैं. इसमें सबसे अधिक तादाद बच्चों की है. यूएन की रिपोर्ट में बताया गया है कि हर रोज दस हजार बच्चे भूख के कारण अपनी जान गवा रहे हैं. वहीं रिपोर्ट में दुनियाभर में लगभग 854 मिलियन लोगों के कुपोषित होने का अनुमान लगाया गया है. साथ ही ऐसा अनुमान लगाया गया है कि खाद्य पदार्थों तेजी से बढ़ती कीमतों के कारण यह संख्या जल्द ही 100 मिलियन के आकड़े को छू लेगी.
