Woody Tales Goa by Karl
A seasoned and well salted Mariner turned hands on 'Wood worker'. Handcrafting out of the box designs whilst paying attention to detail and finish.
What started of as routine DIY handiwork around the house during the lockdown 2020, has turned into a love for working with wood and creation of products that arnt easily available in the market. With the concept of wealth out of waste in mind, I initially got my hands on old roof rafters and window shutters and converted them into art pieces that were pleasing to the eye with a vint
Rice, curry and some good company on a lazy Sunday.

Family time at the beach house 🏖.
The good old charm of a true goan beach house awaits you
A throwback to a quieter time. The time you could sit back and relax while listening to 'carpenters' and 'kenny rogers' playing on the radio. The time the kids would build sand castles while munching on chutney and corned beef sandwiches, a time when 'rasna' was the go to drink on a hot summers day poured out from a red and white 'Milton' dispenser, and goan 'Chouriço pulau' was the highlight of the afternoon.
Here's a picture of the grand children of the house Sharon, Ryan, Crista Maria, Jean Paul and Daniel doing what they loved best... having a blast at the Chalet Balnear Dandino. My cousin Alison was just born at the time and not in the pic. My brother Mark and I joined the equation a couple of years later.
Well that being said, nothing has changed at the beach house. The time is still quiet, the sand is still pristine and the view is as picturesque. So apart from the fact that you may hear 'Mann ki Baat' playing on the radio... Its all the same and we hope that you all can experience what these little kids experienced back in the day.
We just love it when kids have a blast at the beach house!❤️
The true definition of Sussegado... 'to be content with yourself' .. and that's exactly what the Chalet Balnear experience is all about.
Managed to squeeze in half a day at the workshop after ages.
Just digging up some pics of some of the vessels I did in the recent past.
Brought back memories of this short stint of 25 odd days where my primary objective was to get this old lady to shine . 17 years of age then , but the boys did an amazing job helping me with the grooming and make up ( lipstick included) to get her into ship shape for a stringent oil major inspection which went by like a breeze

Why the hole in the middle you ask?
Well...
- it separates the veg from the non veg
- the cheese from the meats
- the savoury from the sweet
- the wet chakna from the dry

The moment I started making these boards , I began researching on the safest and cost effective method to keep these boards looking as good as new even after extensive use. Did some research and finally concocted my own Food grade conditioner.
Food grade boards are treated with just oil on the wood surface and nothing else. No sealers , chemicals , polyurethanes or anything resembling constituents that contain VOC'S ( Volatile organic compounds) .These VOC's present in these wood finish chemicals secrete into the food placed on them and can unknowingly lead to dangerous health consequences.
The cons of having a food grade oil is that it wears off after a couple of washes ( with soap and water) and hence needs some rejuvenation time and again.
The products that do this job are exorbitant hence as an introductory offer , I have decided to throw in one of these conditioners ( with a couple of secret ingredients) to keep your board looking as good as new after every use .

I always felt that If I had to make a coffee table , it would be something different from the ones you get around..something unique. Took up this order the second the enquiry came through. Learnt alot from it including the care of setting ceramic tile on wood and grout spacing to take into account the factor of wood expansion. Was both challenging and fun since it was my first.

Been spending my time creating a range of Charcuterie / cheese boards in various shapes, sizes and designs. Been doing some research to get the finish spot on, keeping the food grade aspect in mind.
