Here's a simplified guide with added tips for anyone looking to navigate the grocery aisles more wisely👇🏻

✅Serving Size and Servings Per Container: These figures tell you how much is considered a single serving and how many of those servings are in the whole package. Adjust your intake accordingly if you eat more or less than what is considered a serving.

✅ First Ingredient Rule: The ingredients are listed by quantity, from highest to lowest. The first ingredient is what the food contains the most of.

✅The Pronunciation Rule: If you find ingredients difficult to pronounce, they may be additives or preservatives that some prefer to avoid.

✅Nutrients to Get Less Of: Saturated fats, trans fats, sodium, and added sugars can be harmful in large quantities. Foods with lower percentages of these nutrients are generally healthier choices.

✅Nutrients to Get More Of: Dietary fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals like calcium, iron, and potassium are beneficial for health. Aim for foods that are higher in these nutrients.

✅The 5/20 Rule: A quick way to gauge if a food is high or low in a nutrient is to look at the % Daily Value (%DV). 5% DV or less is low – aim for low in saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, and added sugars. 20% DV or more is high – aim for high in vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

✅Added Sugars: Check for added sugars on the label. Choose foods with little to no added sugars to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

✅Avoid Bad Fats: High levels of saturated and trans fats can be harmful, so look for foods with lower amounts of these fats.

✅Choose Good Fats: Look for foods with higher amounts of healthy fats like mono- and polyunsaturated fats.

Vegan Fruit Ice-cream😋

Ingredients:

👉🏻 1 cup coconut milk
👉🏻1/2 cup soaked cashews
👉🏻1/2 cup jaggery powder
👉🏻1 tsp vanilla extract or powder
👉🏻Fresh fruits (mango, dragon fruit, grapes)

Procedure:

In a mixer, grind coconut milk, soaked cashews, jaggery powder, and vanilla extract/powder to a fine paste.

Place fresh fruits at the bottom of a muffin tray.Pour the liquid mixture over the fruits.

Cover the tray and refrigerate for 7-8 hours.Demould and enjoy!
