A bee study unit was long pending in my list. When I found the perfect cardboard packaging material. We quickly put together this mini bee study unit.

Did you know that bee day is celebrated on 20th of may every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Slovenian bee keeper Anton Jansa who is the pioneer of modern bee keeping.

Currently reading our the bee book and discussing about parts of a bee and their lives and their importance in our lives.

🇮🇳 Festivals of India 🇮🇳

Festivals are a happy time for families and people of the country. India is a country that celebrates many festivals every year. Every festival has an important significance in the culture and history. Festivals are a way to bring people together and celebrate goodness and unity. It is a way for us to show gratitude for everything we have. It gives a feeling of satisfaction and love towards everything.

There are many different festivals in India, and they can be categorised as national, religious, and seasonal festivals. National festivals are Independence Day, Republic Day, and Gandhi Jayanti. They make us celebrate our pride for our nation. Religious festivals are celebrated by people following different faiths. Hindus celebrate Diwali, Muslims celebrate Eid, Christians celebrate Christmas, Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti, etc. These festivals restore our faith in one supreme power. Seasonal festivals are celebrated to mark the onset of different seasons, like Basant Panchami in sprig.

Every festival is celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and happiness, and it brings positivity and unity among people of different religions and ethnicities. Celebrating festivals together promotes peace and harmony in society, bringing people closer to each other.

Our lilies are blooming like crazy this week. I knew we needed a change for morning lessons, so to the sun porch we went, after collecting a few lilies for examination.

Montessori emphasises having real material in a classroom as an important way to develop the students real skills with real activities. This gives them purpose, meaning, emphasis on independence and adaptation on their environment.

While teaching botany to my son is encouraged to get their hands dirty while deconstructing to learn and explore the parts of flower.

Today we learned all about the life cycle of a frog.🐸Learning does not have to be extraordinary or fancy. We read life cycle book and recreate the life cycle with some homemade play dough.

Longitude and latitude

Over the last few weeks, I introduced my boy to map terminology ! Latitude, longitude, prime meridian, the equator, the tropics and more…..

How do you teach the imaginary lines in geography?

Longitude and latitude are imaginary lines that circle the world, allowing us to accurately locate positions.

Here the Rihansh is learning how world travelers navigate these lines that help them understand where they are on a globe.

We watched a brilliant clip on YouTube that explained it so simply.

Layers of atmosphere

Learning about the sky above us ….

Up up and away. Every child wishes they could fly at some point in their live.

The atmosphere layers combination imagination and science into a vibrant lesson with adorable details to inspire.

Earth’s atmosphere is so much more than the air we breathe. A trip from the surface of earth to outer space would result in passing through five different layers, each with different temperature and characteristics.

These layers are troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, exosphere.

We made our own cardboard layers of the atmosphere with ideas of Pinterest, I draw and painted the different layers of atmosphere on cardboard.

He loved this visual play and I think he sort of understand what I attempted here.

🏖🏝 Introduction to geography 🏝🏖

A fun introduction is learning about landforms and water forms.

A land form is a unit that forms a part of the overall shape of the earth. A collection of landforms is called a landscape. A landscape is all the visible parts of an area of earth.
Land and water forms typically include island and lake, cape and bay, archipelago and system of lakes, gulf and peninsula, isthmus and strait. Rihansh begin working with hands on land water forms.

When learning about land and water forms. I wanted the rihansh to have a tactile experience.

We do not own a set of land and water form trays. For our intial presentation I decided to do another way. I traced each form in tracing cardboard and painted them.

We supplemented our work with the book geography from A to Z by jack knowlton and activity book from

Practiced in india since the 5th century, yoga has been beneficial in keeping the body and mind in sound health. A holistic approach, yoga targets all the different systems of the body and mind.it is said that the asanas make the body strong and flexible, as health improves; the mind too is renewed with confidence. The practice of pranayama regulates the purification of the internal system and the organs, acting as a superior and able supplements to asanas. The energy that is generated in the body through these physical practices is the channeled into meditation or Dhyan for stability, peace and clam.
