AIRSO JMI Severely Condemns the Show Cause Notice Issued to Student Activist Wajahat Ali by JMI Administration

It has been seen that the Jamia Administration is pushing the Show Cause culture again. Recently, the administration issued a show cause on a student activist Syed Wajahat Ali and stated that he had intimidated the security guard. The notice also stated that he used ‘unparliamentary words’. He is told to give explanation until 5th April, 2022 or otherwise, action will be taken by the disciplinary committee.

The whole statement is a fabricated lie. No allegation in the statement is true. At the same time, the incident was just the opposite. The security supervisor denied the entry of Wajahat Ali without stating any reason. The supervisor was, in reality, intimidating Wajahat. Wajahat stood and raised his voice for his right to enter the campus. The incident took place on 24th April, 2022, when a protest was organised by CFI against Hijab Verdict. Other activists were also denied entry the same day.

Many times, before this issue, Wajahat and other activists were denied entry. That’s why the student activists of Jamia are not facing this for the first time. Many times, student activists of AIRSO, other organisations and independent, were targeted by the Jamia administration and the police also. That’s why, in the previous demand to reopen the campus also, we demanded the administration to stop personal targeting. Now, it crossed all limits.

We can clearly see that this is Jamia administration’s nasty tactics to quell the student voice of dissent and thereby completely whitewash the struggling culture of Jamia. We stand with Wajahat Ali, who was always there to fight for the student cause. We severely condemn this move of the Jamia administration. We demand the Jamia administration to revoke the show cause notice with immediate effect.
