It is well-substantiated that sound vibration significantly impacts a person’s physical, emotional, and mental state. By chanting Om, we can align our frequency with that of the original universal frequency, which is essential in spiritual practice. As an iron rod becomes as hot as fire when it comes in contact with its flames, a person can spiritualize their life by staying in contact with the spiritual energy of the Absolute.
Om is the seed of transcendental sound, and it is through transcendental sound one can transform the mind and the senses. By chanting Om, the mind becomes aligned with the breath, which enables a person to get into an elevated state of consciousness called samadhi. The activity of attaining samadhi brings the materially absorbed mind under control, which enables a person to have one-pointed focus towards spiritual realization.

Spiritual Significance Of Maharshivratri
Mahashivratri, the Great Night of Lord Shiva, holds profound spiritual significance among Hindus, serving as a time for introspection, purification, and spiritual renewal. Mahashivratri is deeply rooted in ancient Hindu texts, scriptures and mythology, with its observance guided by spiritual teachings and philosophical insights.
One of the primary spiritual significances of Mahashivratri lies in its association with the concept of self-realisation and transcendence. Lord Shiva, the principal deity revered on this auspicious day, symbolises the highest state of consciousness and spiritual awakening.
Devotees believe that by immersing themselves in prayers, meditation, and acts of devotion on Mahashivratri, they can attain a deeper understanding of their true nature and realise the eternal presence of the divine within themselves.
Vedic Havan Benefits
The old practice of Havan, which involves offering sacrifices to Agni, the God of Fire, is said to be a powerful spiritual tool that can help people in many ways.
One of the most important things a Hawan does is clean the surroundings. This practice helps with the purification of air, removes dirt and bad energy, and makes good vibrations. To do this, ghee, grains, and other things are burned in the holy fire of the Hawan while hymns are said. People say that burning these things makes a good mood because of the smell of the smoke.
Hawan is also thought to make people feel better mentally and physically. Rituals like the Hawan take a lot of focus and concentration, which can help lower stress and anxiety. The heat from the Hawan is very healing and can help the body eliminate toxins. Mantras can also have a powerful effect on the mind, helping to bring about a feeling of inner peace and calmness.
The Hatha Yoga Pradipika is a medieval scripture written in 1350. The Nath Yogi Swatmarama is the author. The meaning of the title is interesting to consider if one wishes to begin to understand the book’s content.
Pradipika means “light” or “to illuminate”, ha means “sun”, tha means “moon” and yoga or yug means to “join”. So the title suggests: light on how to join the sun and the moon, or another way we could say this would be: The low-down on how to go beyond all limitations posed by living in a mundane reality where Nature and Spirit are kept separate. When viewed from this perspective, hatha yoga is a ta***ic practice as it attempts to bring about a harmony between the two energies of life: the pranic and the mental.
“HATHA YOGA”
6 -limb yoga (Shatanga Yoga).
1- Asana – steady comfortable state of body and mind
2- Pranayama – expansion of capacity to retain prana
3- Pratyahara – withdrawal from the sensory input
4- Dharana – bringing the mind to one single point
5- Dhyana – observing the self
6- Samadhi – becoming free from Maya
Whether it’s a sense of community, the joy of devotion, or the pure love of singing that draws you to kirtan, consider it another kind of yoga to explore this coming year. This celebratory practice allows us to go deep inside and connect to the divinity within us all.
In India, philosophy originated as an exploration of the mystery of life and existence. Indian Philosophy refers to a number of philosophical traditions that arose on the Indian subcontinent. Six philosophical systems have evolved to embody India’s intellectual quest for truth throughout the ages, these are Vaishesika, Nyaya, Samkhya, Yoga, Purva Mimansa, and Vedanta or Uttara Mimansa. Almost all Indian schools of thought recognized the principle of karma and reincarnation, and the goal of moksha is viewed as an escape from the cycle of births and deaths. Moksha/liberation is regarded as the greatest aim of human effort.
Sometimes the prolonged surrender in a Yin pose or the almost hypnotic state I find in yoga nidra elicits tears of unknown origin. More often, the tears come in Savasana. And, at times, the tears are because of a perfect storm of elements—the pose, the vibe, the music, the words of the teacher—resonate so deeply.

Located at the crown of the head, the Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara Chakra in Sanskrit, is the seventh energy center in the chakra system. It is the highest point in the body and acts as a bridge between our physical selves and the spiritual world.
Chakras play a role in the flow of energy in your body. Running from the base of your spine to the top of your head, the seven main chakras each correspond to specific nerve bundles and organs in your body.
When one or more of your chakras becomes blocked or unbalanced, it’s thought to have an impact on your physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health.
The throat chakra (also known as Vishuddha) is responsible for communication, self-expression, and the ability to speak your personal truth.
"Learning to be present with yourself and to abide in that which is steady and comfortable does not allow space for self-judgment. When you live this way, you are practicing yoga: you are living fully."

What are Bandhas?
‘Bandha’ in Sanskrit means ‘lock.’ The purpose of a bandha is to ‘lock’ the energy flow in and to, a specific part of the body temporarily. When the ‘lock’ is released, the energy flows more vigorously through the body. This promotes overall health and vitality.
On a physical level, a bandha or ‘lock’ is created when a sphincter and specific muscles in relation to it are contracted. A sphincter is a ring-shaped muscle within the body that relaxes or tightens. This action opens or closes a passage in the body. An example would be within the digestive system where a sphincter regulates the passage of food from the esophagus to the stomach, through the intestines, and out the a**s. There are over sixty sphincters in the human body.
There are six sphincters in the digestive system. Three of these six sphincters can be contracted in order to create the bandhas or locks:
A**l sphincter to create Mula Bandha
Sphincter of oddi to create Uddiyana Bandha
Upper esophageal sphincter to create Jalandhara Bandha
The combination of these three individual locks forms the fourth bandha, Maha Bandha, also called ‘the great lock.

The planes of the body are anatomical concepts often used by health professionals to describe how your body moves during exercise or other activities.
You can visualize them as flat surfaces that divide the body into front and back, side-to-side, and top to bottom.
Knowing the different body planes can be useful in designing your workout program to ensure you’re moving and strengthening your body in all directions.
Learning these terms can help you better understand movement patterns as well as anatomy since these terms give “clues.” For example, you should now know that the superior vena cava sits above the inferior vena cava.
There are a few anatomical actions that we need to be concerned with in garbha pindasana and kukkutasana. We continue to explore the depth of our lotus because both of the poses require a deep external hip rotation and flexion of the hip joint. If we are doing the full expression of garbha pindasana, then we are also sliding our arms through the openings between the legs in our lotus and folding the legs into our chest. Folding the lotus towards the chest happens by flexing at the hip joints
Th
e ollinron arbha pindasana also requires a sufficient amount of spinal flexion. As I often say, round things roll, and flat things flop. If you don’t or can’t sufficiently flex the hips and tuck your head in, your spine doesn’t round enough to roll on it. There are some other considerations below as well.
In kukkutasana, we undo that flexion enough to place our hands on the floor and press up to lift our body off the floor. Here we are required, once again, to access the armpits for pushing into the floor. This requires strength and stability of the shoulder girdle
“Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.”

8Days -7Nights Retreat
As in warrior I, the action of flexion in the front hip and knee is eccentric in relationship to the pull of gravity. Unlike warrior I, however, the abductors of the front leg are working concentrically to abduct the hip—because the foot is on the ground, this action is proximal and has the effect of rotating the pelvis open to the side. In the back leg, simultaneous hip extension and abduction are challenging—the articulation of the pelvis and sacrum at the SI joint can take some of the pressure of these actions away from the ligaments and capsule of the hip joint.
Like warrior I, a wide variety of opinions exists about how much external rotation is needed in the back hip joint. The amount of rotation depends on a variety of factors and should arise from the action of the foot and whole leg, rather than being an isolated hip joint action. The more mobility there is in the SI joint and hip joint of the front leg, the less spinal rotation is needed to turn the chest to face the side.
If the chest is not clearly facing sideways, the spreading of the arms can put pressure on the brachial plexus (the web of nerves that extend into the arm), which travels from the side of the cervical spine under the clavicle and under the pectoralis minor. Keeping the arms in line with the sides of the torso helps to prevent this compression, which can result in sensations of numbness or tingling in the arms.
The Anatomy of the Shoulder
The shoulder is made up of two joints, the acromioclavicular joint and the glenohumeral joint. The acromioclavicular joint is where the acromion, part of the shoulder blade (scapula) and the collar bone (clavicle) meet. The glenohumeral joint is where the ball (humeral head) and the socket (the glenoid) meet. The rotator cuff connects the humerus to the scapula and is made up of the tendons of four muscles, the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and the subscapularis. Tendons attach muscle to bone. Muscles in turn move bones by pulling on the tendons. The muscles of the rotator cuff keep the humerus tightly in the socket. The socket, or the glenoid, is shallow and flat. It is rimmed with soft tissue called the labrum that makes a deeper socket that molds to fit the humeral head. The joint capsule surrounds the shoulder joint. It is a fluid filled sac that lubricates the joint. It is made up of ligaments. Ligaments are soft tissue that holds bone to bone. Shoulder injuries can occur to any part of the shoulder.
Adho Mukha Vrksasana is a variant of the Vrksasana, in effect an inverted version of the tree pose. It is described by another name in at least one major yoga text, and is a challenging yoga asana for beginners, owing to its demands on the practitioner's sense of balance.
Meaning of Adho Mukha Vrksasana
Vrksasana is a tree pose in which one stands with the hand raised towards the sky. Adho Mukha Vrksasana can be termed as a tilted tree pose wherein one hand is supporting the entire body weight. It is hence a handstand pose. This asana when done by beginners has to be done very carefully as balancing oneself on one hand is challenging.
