To say India has a complex relationship with Alcohol is stating quite the obvious. In fact, we’ve had long standing weird attitudes around drinking in our culture.
While some of us love a drink or two during the weekend, some of us avoid it like it’s a plague and some just can’t get enough of it. It might seem like preferences on the surface (it is, to some extent), but if that were the only reason, we wouldn’t be making a post!
So, how exactly did this drinking culture take root in India and why is it still a thing? Hop in with us (Oh, by swiping right), while we search for the answers in our History & culture.

From movies, to TV Shows, Novels and even in Memes we often see a lot of dystopian narratives as to how the world would be without friendships. What would life be like if there were just AI friends and humans running around like workmates? Frankly though, all of that is not happening anytime soon (thankfully!) but it also poses the question: Are we slowly marching towards that? Is Friendship losing its charm?
Today, there has been a significant decline in friendships – for eg, in the United States - 12% of the people say that they have no close friends at all, which was just 3% in 1990. Having around 10 friends has gone down from 33% to just 13%. While this could mean more people are currently valuing quality over quantity, the inevitable fact that remains is that we don’t make friends as much as we used to.
In fact, going back in history, we can actually find that our friendship groups used to be as big as 10-15. But yeah, times have changed & with that our relationships do change quite a lot.
Scholars cite that the reason for this is because we work more. A lot of people these days are more worried about their personal growth & career which often leaves little to no room for nurturing relationships outside. Also, one more factor is moving out as you age, leaving behind the friends you made. Interestingly, this has led more people to being closer with their families than before.
Friendship was something even the Ancient Philosophers valued seriously. Aristotle considered friendship to be ‘The Ideal Human Relationship’, which makes perfect sense, since it’s the only relationship where you’re not in it for any tangible benefit (which we naturally seek for in relationships), but simply because you just like being with the other person.
There is a brighter side to this - in recent times, having a small group of close-knit friends has increased significantly, which could mean that this trend might continue & friendship might still have its charm, in a different form. Even so, it’s probably best not to put your meeting with a friend on hold since human experiences are more fleeting than your priorities!
6 years after changing the entire internet landscape, Jio has now successfully ventured into the OTT space after acquiring two big giants - IPL & HBO’s content rights (the latter being an exclusive partnership).
It’s no surprise that Jio Cinema has had a bang of a start with IPL in their hands, but with this new HBO partnership will JIO Cinemas beat Netflix & Prime Video?
And more than that, what could this potentially mean for the users? Swipe through to find out everything!

After almost a century, this year’s February saw the hottest month ever recorded in India’s history. Usually, February is the month where the washed up winter blues settle, as we prepare ourselves with sunscreens and scarfs to face May’s uncanny heatwaves. And then all of a sudden it just… rained.
But that’s not the only anomaly we’ve encountered, the summer of last year was the 5th hottest ever recorded & this summer we’re having an unseasonal rainfall during the supposedly hottest month of the year!
Naturally, this begs the question: has this been the case forever? While there’s no straightforward answer to this, first let’s look at what’s obvious: Climate Change — which we all think is the major reason for such extreme weather conditions. While this is an accurate assumption, it has also been partly influenced by our perception of our surroundings.
You see, while climate change is a major factor, scientists also acknowledge the influence of natural variability on weather patterns. To quote, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states that "Many Extreme Events are Influenced by Natural Variability as well as by Anthropogenic Climate Change." Meaning, weather is naturally erratic and has been like this always.
Another reason is, back then (perhaps 150 years ago), tracking and recording weather anomalies would’ve been tricky with limited technology and not to mention the population density would’ve been scanty too. As we rose in numbers, we began to urbanise rapidly in lands which were left unmanned in the previous centuries. This could also be a reason why our current generation is getting to experience a lot of nature’s weird weather fluctuations.
It’s hard to imagine how climatic conditions will change in the distant future. But before long, it's imperative for us to act in the present and make it so that the only reason why it rains in May is because of nature’s shenanigans and not ours.

We’ve all been there - Walked into a store & noticed our eyes gravitating towards one product more than the others in the same aisle. We’ve even spent longer standing there & looking at it, comparing it to another very similar product we saw & went ahead & bought it anyway.
So why are we willing to pay more for the same product (but with better design)? The answer comes down to many factors but value perception plays a crucial role here.
You see, a well-designed product can offer a better perceived user experience, which basically makes the use seem easier & more enjoyable.
A well-packed product also represents a way for people to express their personal style and taste. We all tend to view products that we buy as a reflection of our own individuality – buying a well-designed product then (over one that is similar but not as attractive) makes us place a higher value on them & help us stand out from the crowd.
The other more inconspicuous factor that comes in is Trust. A good product design tells a person that we can help you navigate these complex problems successfully.
So, next time you walk into a store try to notice which products you gravitate towards over others & why.

Is competitor analysis any different from scrolling through your competitors website or checking out their social profiles?
While there's definitely a lot you can get while doing these things (& they are crucial steps), a competitor analysis involves you going a lot deeper into your competitors strategy. Let us explain.
When a company wants to succeed in the market, it needs to know who its competitors are and what they're doing. That's where competitor analysis comes in. By analysing the competition, a company can find out what its competitors' strengths and weaknesses are, what products or services they offer, how they market themselves, and what they're charging for their products or services.
This information is crucial because it helps you make informed decisions about your own strategy. For example, if you discover that your competitors are all offering the same product at a lower price, you might decide to focus on a different product or find a way to differentiate yourself from your competition. Or, if you learn that its competitors are all advertising on social media, it might decide to invest more in its own social media marketing.
Competitor analysis helps companies stay competitive by giving them the information they need to make smart decisions about their business strategy. Just like a runner preparing for a race, a company that knows its competition is better equipped to succeed.
Ever since ChatGPT got released, there’s been quite a lot of talk about it replacing humans in jobs. Sure enough, the Chatbot is pretty impressive — its ability to replicate human writers by producing coherent paragraphs has left a big room for speculation. Can this be a new era for writing? well, sort of… but it can’t completely replace humans & there are reasons for it. But first, let’s see how ChatGPT works.
Let's say you were to write an essay for a school assignment. Naturally, you'd refer to a lot of text to learn. In the end, your essay would be a narrative of the collective knowledge that you gathered in the process. Similarly, ChatGPT uses a technique called ‘deep learning’ to analyse the given input & generate a response by predicting the arrangement of words. This simply means, it answers based on a large amount of text (from the internet databases), so it's not 100% certain.
This level of analysing & writing might be good enough for school essays. It could also help businesses (& writers) save a lot of time by doing repetitive writing like product manuals & technical papers in just a matter of seconds. Emphasis on the words 'help' & 'writers' — are you catching the drift?
Yes, ChatGPT - used wisely - can be a ‘tool’ for writers. What one can do is get a decent first draft from it & tweak it based on their sensibilities. In other words, ChatGPT works best with human intervention, just like any other tool! (Calculators, Computers or even Grammarly). Without that, what you’d get from it might not be the best for high-end writing tasks.
On a fundamental level, Writing requires language & emotion that we humans inherit from our culture & our experiences. We do that as a form of self-expression, which inevitably becomes interesting for the reader — something an AI Chatbot can never replicate, at least for now.
It’s hard to predict what ChatGPT can become in the next few years. Perhaps a better technology will take over & content generation will become an industry of its own. But, adding that human touch will always be a part of it!
Here’s an interesting inside story: If you’ve ever wondered where we got our agency's name ‘Obladi’ - we borrowed it from the Iconic Beatles song 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da' (Yes, we’re a Beatles Fan!)
That said, in all aspects, are the most popular & influential band of all time. Six Decades have passed since their first single release, but their glory remains unceasing – both what they did to the Music Industry & the values they represented.
The Beatles were together as a Band professionally for just about 8 years, but they managed to leave their mark on almost everything… They revived the Music Industry, They are the best-selling music artists of all time & the list just goes on.
But how did they manage to do it all? We break that down in today’s post Swipe Through to Know How the Iconic Rock Band’s Impact has changed Music & the World forever.

Let's start by answering the first question most business owners have when it comes to LinkedIn: “Is LinkedIn really the platform my business needs to be on?”. And while the answer does eventually come down to your business goals there's one thing you should know: LinkedIn is designed specifically with business networking in mind.
You see, LinkedIn is a vastly different social media platform. It's a more closed network, where members usually only connect with people they already know or have been introduced to by someone in their network.
So, how can a brand tap into this space? Well, its closed nature also means business networking is the name of the game, unlike other social platforms where personal connections come above brands. And here's the thing, this platform doesn’t just work for B2Bs but also B2Cs.
Here's where your strategy for this platform comes in. An effective way to do this is to invite your existing client base to connect with you & follow your business page (this notifies & brings you to the front of their connections).
Building the right network is the most important aspect here. Once you do that all you have to focus now on is your content strategy for these people. The key here is to give out the kind of content your target audience would be interested in & would add value to their life.
Hence, the key to getting more customers on this platform comes down to just that – building connections within your industry & communicating messages that are valuable & related to your brand.
This simple, yet not exactly easy way will drive your brand goals to reach a more engaged audience.
Whether it’s the wind-up celebration or your next year’s resolutions, Every year New Year brings in a fresh sense of excitement. Though it's quite obvious that we associate new beginnings with a new year, the reason why we make resolutions has a lot to do with our tradition & also psychology!
The Idea of welcoming a new year with a celebration & making resolutions is nothing new. In fact, the Babylonians were the first to have festivals celebrating every new year’s arrival. During these festival days, they also resolved to clear their debts or return their borrowed farming equipment, which makes perfect sense since they were primarily an agriculture-based society. Also, on a side note: The Babylonians believed that their resolutions were promises to God.
This religious view of resolutions was later adopted by other cultures in the world & persisted throughout the Roman Era & even in the Middle Ages till the 19th century.
The post-war era flipped the nature of this tradition from religious to more secular & individualistic. In fact during the 1950s, the tradition remained the same while the type of resolutions became more jovial, like exercising more or developing a personal habit. It was definitely a step-up.
Today, there are millions of people on their "reset" or "new start". At the same time, only a fraction of them (8% - as revealed in a study by Scranton University) actually keep up with it.
According to Psychologist Mariana Strongin, New Year gives us a sense of renewal & gives us excitement to make new plans, but it’s also the very reason why we tend to give up on them, hastily. Simply put, the action of setting a goal spikes up the feel good hormone “Dompanie", but it’s not the same case when we’re working towards the goal. In other words, We like setting goals more than pursuing them!
So, as you look ahead to 2023 with enthusiasm, just remember that you’re participating in an age-old tradition. Also, Happy New Year!
CRO may sound like a technical term but in reality is a simple process that when done well can help you gain more leads, increase your revenue, & lower the acquisition costs for your business.
So, what is CRO? Conversion Rate Optimisation is simply the process of optimizing your Website or Landing Page based on the User’s current experience.
The goal here is to increase the chances of the user performing your desired action - this could be buying your product, generating leads or even signing up for your mailing list.
Why does this matter? This process of ‘optimising’ i.e. getting more value from your visitors may sound like a minute technical fixing but in the larger scheme saves you a ton of time & cost. This is because of the unstable traffic on online channels - where if you don’t convert your audience in the first go, you end up decreasing your chances of them interacting with you again.
So, how do you improve your conversion funnel? To get a high conversion rate your website needs to be well-designed, formatted keeping the Website/Marketing Funnel in mind, & highlight the main value proposition on your page (equipt with precise CTA’s).
For this, we use tools to analyse how users are interacting with your website. Clarity being one of them that helps us access screen recordings & Google Analytics another to see what a customer’s session is like on your website.
These help us give the right attention to specific sections of your website that need optimising for your precise target audience.
CRO is an extremely important process to help convert users who visit your website into customers. Get in touch with us today if you’re interested in this service.
We all either love horror movies or know someone who does. Horror movies have been topping the charts & pulling people to theatres for years. In fact, it's one of the highest profit-generating genres for production houses to make. But, what exactly is it that gets people to voluntarily seek out a genre that quite literally induces fear in them?
Watching horror movies isn’t exactly a pleasant feeling… Or is it? Horror is one of the rare few genres that gives us two very opposing kinds of sensations at the same time – fear & joy.
To add to that, the fear you feel is real. Very real. Psychologist Krista Jordan states that our brain isn’t always capable of distinguishing between fantasy & reality effectively. If I were to describe someone biting into a lemon very effectively, your salivary glands will activate.
In the same way, our brain gets a rush of adrenaline & produces endorphins in a hauntingly scary scene - pumping us up like we are in actual danger. But, the difference is we’re safe. After a minute of some hauntingly escalating emotions we look around & we’re not in that situation. Simply put, we’re in a controlled environment.
But, there's more. Horror movies also let us live out novel experiences. You’d never actually know what it's like to be in a thousand-year-old abandoned house in the woods right? Or even bigger, a zombie apocalypse with only you surviving? These experiences put you in unimaginable circumstances & leave you feeling more daring & adventurous.
It is also a genre where we feel like we can control the narrative. Constantly putting our judgements to the main character's decisions. Because in real life, we’d imagine ourselves making better decisions in the character’s place. In short, horror movies are an experience more than simply a movie.
Even after months of being in theatres (& crossing a gigantic box office collection of over 1000 crores & breaking streaming records to trend for 14 consecutive weeks on Netflix), RRR is still running successfully in theatres in the US.

In just a few clicks (& a little bit of work), you can have your own Amazon Storefront for your brand. But why should you?
The short answer is that this almost mini-website is a perfect strategy to increase your visibility & differentiate your brand in this huge online marketplace.
Now, what does it cost (how does it actually do that)? Well, let's start with what an Amazon Brand Store really is & who it's for. A Brand Store is a free tool for sellers to create their own (beautifully designed) branded online store on Amazon.
What this means is, having one unified place to showcase your brand messaging & all your products (organised in categories) for a seamless shopping experience for the customer.
Apart from boosting customer experience (& a smoother mobile shopping experience thanks to Amazon’s mobile optimisation), a brand store helps your customers identify your brand from other countless counterfeit products online. Giving authority to your brand (by proving its genuineness) while also improving its organic ranking when it comes to search results.
What's more, is that you can market any new products that you launch, not only to new customers, but to your existing ones as well! Brand Store is a tool for every brand that has its product listed on Amazon (whether they are advertising or not) with an ample amount of customization options available to make your page unique to your branding.
This valuable tool helps you become a recognised seller on the largest online store in the world.
The topic of the Dark Web has always been quite a mystery with free rein to speculate. But, has it ever occurred to you, why & how it was created? Now before we understand what the Dark Web is (or how it came to be), we need to first look at - The ‘Deep Web’, its foundation.
As the internet became a communication marvel during the mid-1990s, it also posed a privacy problem - everything you did online was traceable. The U.S government grew concerned about this, which drove them to develop a technology called ‘Onion routing’. This simply allowed users to stay anonymous & eventually became ‘The Deep Web’.
The Deep Web is pretty much the internet we know today. It hosts a vast range of sites (96% of the entire internet is Deep Web!) where privacy is much needed - such as your Netflix account, your password-protected social sites & everything that requires some sort of authentication. This means we’ve all been using the Deep Web without even knowing it!
While this did fix the privacy issues, it certainly made way for a world beneath The Dark Web. The side of the Deep Web that contains intentionally hidden sites which can only be accessed only via special browsers. What exactly can we find on the Dark Web? Well, everything from not-so-publicly known articles, blogs & forums to both licit & illicit services.
There’s definitely a darker side to the Dark Web, but it’s just not as big as we think it is. While no one exactly knows the size of the dark web, most estimates show that it’s roughly about 5% of the entire Internet. A survey from 2016 found that only 3-6% of people use those special browsers to access such illegal sites.
The Dark Web isn’t exactly a safe place nor is it something we should be concerned about either. But thinking of it as a criminal underground with conspiracies couldn’t be more deceptive. It’s the very nature of the Dark Web that allows it to be unrestrictive & it's in our hands to take it for the good while ignoring the bad.
Picture this, it’s a normal day of the week – perhaps Wednesday & you’ve just woken up from your dear Sleep. Just like your daily tasks, you probably know what you’ll be eating for the day. At least in the order it’s ‘meant to be’ eaten – Breakfast, Lunch & then Dinner. But, has it ever occurred to you why this random assortment of meals that we’re following came into existence? Or is it any natural?
Well, truth be told, according to Nutritionists & Food experts there’s no biological or evolutionary reasons to follow this trifecta, nor is it exactly healthy as we’ve been told — it’s all a matter of convenience (a result of industrialization, of course).
Way back in the time, eating was – unlike today – dependent on the availability of sources & people simply ate whenever they got a chance. Food Historians marvel that they ate 1 or 2 big meals or even no meal at all when it was difficult to source any! Having 3 meals though was a no go; so much that Romans viewed eating more than twice as an act of Greed! Later, when modernization rapidly increased industries & need for Labours – it was then this idea of having a pre-working meal & a break time meal surfaced to become an accepted practice that we have today.
This system worked pretty well for the hustling Labours who did manual shifts, the only problem today is we don’t lead such a taxing lifestyle anymore. You see, the way we eat hasn’t quite changed (like it should’ve) with the way our life has become sedentary. And we often end up eating ‘properly’ (as we’re told to) without realising that our body doesn’t need it.
Our Brain is wired in such a way that if you’re seeing a Food picture/ video – you might get tempted by it, even if you’re almost full. It’s then obvious that our Body has adapted itself to this way of eating — asking you for dinner when the clock strikes night, even if you’ve had some extra fries & a burger for lunch. How much fuel we really need, is something we need to get mindful of.
Be it taking little breaks at work to finish a new episode of an unsolved mystery podcast or binging a mini series over the weekend, True Crime has become a promising source of some seriously indulging & gripping content.
How did this come to be? Well, true crime is getting produced more & more. While it’s certain to ascribe our interest in violence to the growth of this genre, the evolution of the formats has definitely facilitated our new mainstream obsession.

Why do you need a whole separate page for your campaign when you can simply lead your audience to the existing ones on your website? Well, because landing pages have the highest conversion rate of all - an astounding 23%.
If that doesn’t seem like a lot, compare it to the other pages (that you lead your audiences to) which see a conversion rate of 11.45% or less. So, what are landing pages & why should they matter for your business?
Landing pages (LPs) are simply pages that act as the first point of contact between a visitor & your website. This could refer to one of the pages on your website or a separate page itself. But more often than not, when we talk about LPs we’re talking about Dedicated Landing Pages. These are pages that could be reached through paid Ads or even organic searches.
This standalone webpage is created with the intent to convert site visitors into leads. The most effective way you can utilize this tool (that has worked for us) is to address your buyer's precise fears (a study finds that this increases your conversion rate by 80%) – & tailor your messaging & offers accordingly. This page is intended for a specific source of traffic & your messaging should reflect the same!
You can even take this further by offering some sort of value ex. E-Books, Worksheets, etc. as an incentive for them to interact with you which would amplify your campaign's conversion rate. Landing pages are a beast of their own & when done right you can really see results!
