*MD JJM visits Sopore, inspects progress on various ongoing projects*
*_Projects Worth Over Rs.15 Crore Aimed at Providing Water to Over 1800 Households_*
SOPORE ,JUNE 22: Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission J&K, Dr. G.N. Itoo, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina,Superintending Engineer Jal Shakhti Department and other Engineers and officers, conducted a tour of Sopore Sub-division of district Baramulla on Saturday and took a detailed on-site inspection of various water supply schemes being executed under JJM.
During the visit, the MD JJM, thoroughly inspected the Water Supply Scheme Rampura-Rajpura being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.42 crore. The scheme when completed will provide portable drinking water to 275 households.
After reviewing the work on WSS Rampura-Rajpura, the MD said that the project is in the final stages of its construction and will be inaugurated on 5th of July, providing the residents of this remote area with safe drinking water directly in their homes.
G.N. Itoo also inspected the construction work on WSS Sangri-Muqam project which is being constructed at a cost of Rs.991 lacs. The project after completion will provide tap water connection to 421 households of the nearby villages.
During his visit, G.N. Itoo highlighted the progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission in Baramulla district and said that against the target of 1.45 lakh tap water connections in rural areas, over 1.21 lakh connections have already been provided. In the Sopore subdivision alone, 43 thousand household tap water connections have been delivered against a target of 45 thousand.
The MD commended the support of the local administration for their role in achieving this goal and said that the department will further accelerate its efforts to reach 100% saturation by the end of September this year.

CRPF organises free medical camp in Sarmarg Handwara A free medical health check-up camp was organized by 92 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Government Upper Primary School Sarmarg Handwara, during which free check up and free medicines were distributed among local populace. The camp was inaugurated by Commandant 92 Battalion Naresh Kumar along with former sarpanch Tanvir Ahmad Lone, Second in Command S Kengoo, Assistant Commandant Depak Kumar, Dr Irshad Ahamd Rather Medical Officer 92 Battalion and other degnitries were present on this occasion. Medical camp was organised in consonance with the ongoing peace process by security forces across Kashmir Valley. A team of specialist doctors rendered their services to over 315 patients. During the medical camp a number of people including women, children and senior citizens of the area visited to take advantage of the camp. Commandant 92 Battalion CRPF Naresh Kumar said that they have organised a free medical camp and consultancy for those who require medical assistance and you see a large number of people turned up in the programme. "The aim of such programmes is to have good relations with locals and also help them in difficult times. It’s a continuous process and 92 Battalion is periodically conducting community outreach programs in one or other way. In the past also such free medical camps were organised in Kupwara district," he added. Meanwhile locals extended gratitude to 92 Battalion CRPF for conducting the medical camp in the area.
