Many thanks to Team Foundation for making me a part of the Human Spaceflight celebration that happened as a physical exhibit at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata from April 3rd to April 12th. Great working with you. I hope people continue loving space and work towards global cooperation for sustainable and safe human spaceflight!

It has been more than a WEEK since we wrapped up our Outreach at the City of Joy, Kolkata.

The "Human Space Flight for Peace and Friendship" event, jointly organized by Russian House, Kolkata, and LIFE-To & Beyond Foundation, garnered significant media attention across various platforms.

All India Radio - Akashvani, The Telegraph India, NorthEast Herald (Nationally), Sciworthy Newsletter Spring 2024 issue (Internationally), News Prime Time, Khas Sangbad, Sara Bangla News, and Amar Utsab News (Regionally in West Bengal) all featured the event, highlighting its impact on fostering curiosity and connections through human space exploration.

The Social channels of Russian House Kolkata and the Russian Embassy in India also played a pivotal role in spreading the word, reaching audiences far and wide.

Celebrating 63 Years of Global Human Space Flight

It was an immense privilege to partake in a heartfelt floral tribute ceremony on the 63rd anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's launch into Space as a part of our 9-day Grand Space event organized by the Russian Consulate, Russian House Kolkata, and the LIFE-To & Beyond Foundation.

Our co-founder at LIFE-To & Beyond Foundation, Subhajit Hazra and I were joined by esteemed guests including Russian Consul General Alexey Idamkin, Russian House, Kolkata Director Sergey Sushin, and other representatives to pay a floral tribute to Yuri Gagarin's bust at the M.P. Birla Planetarium. Gagarin being a true trailblazer of human space exploration.

Yuri Gagarin's groundbreaking flight on April 12, 1961, marked a pivotal moment in human history, inspiring generations and igniting the spark of curiosity and wonder for the mysteries beyond. As we gathered, we not only honored his remarkable achievement but also celebrated the enduring legacy of international in space exploration.

I extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. S. Dutta and the dedicated team at M.P. Birla Planetarium for their gracious hospitality and for providing us with the perfect setting to reflect on the significance of this milestone. Their commitment to promoting scientific education and fostering a deeper understanding of our place in the cosmos is truly commendable.

Together, let us continue to embrace the spirit of exploration and collaboration as we look to the stars with hope and curiosity, inspired by the courage and vision of pioneers like Yuri Gagarin.

On April 3, 1984, the Soyuz-U launch vehicle put into orbit the Soyuz T-11 spacecraft under the Intercosmos program. The crew consisting Soviet cosmonauts Yuri Malyshev and Gennady Strekalov included India's first cosmonaut, Rakesh Sharma.

Discovery of the Raman Effect: A journey from (India) to on Mars!
National Science Day special🔬🌌

In a modest room in Kolkata (West Bengal, India), at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science back in 1928, the seeds of a revolutionary discovery were sown. C.V. Raman, armed with nothing but a simple setup of optics and a curious mind, observed an extraordinary phenomenon that would forever change the course of science.

- a phenomenon where light undergoes a change in frequency when it interacts with matter. Raman's discovery not only earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 but also opened doors to countless scientific breakthroughs.

The Raman Effect transcended boundaries, becoming a cornerstone of modern physics and chemistry. Its applications range from materials science to medicine, from environmental monitoring to forensic analysis.

But the journey doesn't end there!
The Raman Effect has now found its place in the realm of .
Scientists harness its power to analyze the composition of distant planets and moons, probing for signs of life beyond Earth.

Perseverance Mars rover employed with the SHERLOC instrument. In brief,
- SHERLOC (Scanning Habitable Environments with Raman & Luminescence for Organics & Chemicals) is mounted on the rover’s robotic arm.
- SHERLOC combines cameras, spectrometers, and a laser for analysis.
- It searches for organics and minerals altered by watery environments.
- Altered substances could indicate past microbial life on Mars.
- SHERLOC plays a crucial role in advancing the understanding of Martian geology and ancient life potential.

On this National Science Day, we celebrate the enduring legacy of the Raman Effect discovered on this very day.

The story is a testament to the fact that science can be done by anyone and from any part of the world.
