The celebration of our first anniversary could not have been better. While our guest, Dr. Nevica Baruah spoke about the exciting career opportunities in the field of healthcare, our special guest, Tinat Atifa Masood shared her inspiring journey, from being suicidal to running marathons and also introduced to us her widely known curriculum on mental well-being. On the whole, the session was replete with a wholesome blend of valuable knowledge and enriching life experiences.
As Educult turns a year old today, we wholeheartedly thank all who have helped us come so far, and hope for your support to achieve more milestones in the future.

A random WhatsApp group message encouraged us to grow a dream called "EduCult'. One year ago, we started our journey with a mission. Since then we have uploaded 124 videos in our YouTube channel, organized 16 EduCult inspire session, one online quiz competition, one offline workshop and one online seminar in the memory of Dr. Homen Borgohain sir. We want to thank everyone for your support and blessings throughout the year. Hope we will get all your support in the upcoming days.

As Educult is completing its one year, we are bringing a special webinar to create awareness about both physical and mental health which we think is the need of the hour. This Sunday, we have with us Dr. Nevica Baruah, MDS, Oral Medicine and Radiology Dentist, Assam Cancer Care foundation. She will be talking about "Avenues in health care". We also have Tinat Atifa Masood, writter-poet, founder of concept. She will be taking about "Mental health awareness" and introduce us with her popular curriculum. We will also have a special interaction program after the webinar with our audience as a part of the anniversary. Do join us and be a part of the celebration.

"Everybody is smarter than anybody." – Carl Sandburg

Greetings from team Educult!

We take this opportune moment to share another of our milestone achievements. We successfully conducted our first offline seminar on C++ today under the valued guidance of Dr. Anupam Das sir. Sir was thorough in imparting his lessons, from which our participants could learn much. The seminar was highly educational yet stimulating. We thank everyone who helped us through our first of many such events.

Raman scattering or the Raman effect is the inelastic scattering of photons by matter, meaning that there is an exchange of energy and a change in the light's direction. Typically this effect involves vibrational energy being gained by a molecule as incident photons from a visible laser are shifted to lower energy. This is called normal Stokes Raman scattering. The effect is exploited by chemists and physicists to gain information about materials for a variety of purposes by performing various forms of Raman spectroscopy. Many other variants of Raman spectroscopy allow rotational energy to be examined (if gas samples are used) and electronic energy levels may be examined if an X-ray source is used in addition to other possibilities. More complex techniques involving pulsed lasers, multiple laser beams and so on are known.

Light has a certain probability of being scattered by a material. When photons are scattered, most of them are elastically scattered (Rayleigh scattering), such that the scattered photons have the same energy (frequency, wavelength and color) as the incident photons but different direction. Rayleigh scattering usually has an intensity in the range 0.1% to 0.01% relative to that of a radiation source. An even smaller fraction of the scattered photons (approximately 1 in 10 million) can be scattered inelastically, with the scattered photons having an energy different (usually lower) from those of the incident photons—these are Raman scattered photons.[1] Because of conservation of energy, the material either gains or loses energy in the process.

Rayleigh scattering was discovered and explained in the 19th century. The Raman effect is named after Indian scientist C. V. Raman, who discovered it in 1928 with assistance from his student K. S. Krishnan. Raman was awarded the Nobel prize in Physics in 1930 for his discovery. The effect had been predicted theoretically by Adolf Smekal in 1923.

Albert Einstein famously wrote, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
Today, Dr Anup Kumar Nath sir reiterated the essence of it. Through a stimulating session, he enlightened us about how science fiction- books and movies has paved the way for real inventions and innovations alike. The movie connoisseur in him walked us through invention of gadgets, iMac, iPhone, iPad to name a few, inspired by the Star Trek series, and explored themes that have shaped Sci-fi throughout history. Alas, he remorses at the fact that Bollywood lags behind in producing quality movies, let alone in Sci-fi genre; yet he has not lost hope.
The session was extremely entertaining and informative to say the least. We thank all who have attended and made it a success.
