Kanika- The Chatpati Chat
A proud Ex- CJMite, I am a hardcore Punjabi girl, born and bought up in Delhi. Experimenting and Exploring have been my biggest assets.
I cringe at categories, but if I had to tell about my style, it has majorly been Tom-Boyish. I love comfort. Sweatshirts, T-shirts, Jeans, Shorts, Trackpants are my all time favourites.
Extrovert, Friendly (a tad over :P), Notorious, Extremely Talkative, Expressive, Emotional, Sensitive, Affectionate, Responsible are a few of the traits my family and friends describe me with.
I love cheese… Ohh my weakness, I can have it with anything. Spicy food, street food, The chatpata khaana are my favourites, giving birth to my new nick name “The Chatpati Chat” 😉

Harsh*t- The Gazar ka Halwa
He is a typical Marwari boy, born in Kolkata and brought up in Delhi. An entrepreneur by profession, running a management consulting firm, finance is his forte.
A true gentleman by nature, Subtle, Simple and Smart is what he loves to dress in.
Introvert, Shy, Poised, Sensible, Practical, Extremely Hardworking, Reliable, Caring, Coconut (Hard Outside and Soft Inside :P) describes him the best.
He loves eating ‘Ghar ka khana’. He can eat anything and everything you give him as long as it is home cooked. Harsh*t has a whopping sweet tooth, from halwa to hot chocolates he loves them all, thus coming up with his nick name ‘Gazar ka Halwa’ 😉

It is nothing less than a typical Bollywood Entertainment Masala. It has Friendship, Love, Heartbreaks, Inter-Caste Marriage and ohh my favourite Happy Beginning ….!
We are two opposite souls who caught each other’s attention in a jiffy. We met, we spoke, we laughed, we roamed around, we loved spending time with each other. It all clicked at once.
I knew the very moment; he is a friend I can keep till eternity.
By this time, you all would know, I am an extremely expressive person. My life has always been like an open book whereas, on the contrary, Harsh*t likes to keep his life extremely private.
This was the main reason in our 2.5 years of friendship no one in his life knew about my existence (Even though I was ONLY A FRIEND 😉)
I can hardly keep anything in my stomach. Though there was no reason to as well. My family, friends, relatives everyone knew about him and his importance in my life. BEST FRIENDS you see. He attended my mom dad’s 25th Anniversary function too.

Time passed, from strangers to friends to best friends the transition could only be felt.
With the amount of sensibility and stability he brought in those 2 years, my life completely transformed. I was a complete wreck in those years, heartbreaks, lost friendships, fu**ed up career decisions, it was all falling down. He came like a knight in shining armour and saved the ship from drowning.
It was at this moment when something magical happened. What we call “OUR FIRST BABY” was born.
There are not many things common between us, but one thing that is the base of our friendship, love and even marriage too is our common love for Work and Entrepreneurship.
We planned to start our own organization, FiGal Corporate Advisors: Management Consultants.
His nick for finance and my passion for Marketing proved to be the perfect combination. We not only studied together but were now working together too. Practically in touch for 18 hours in a day, from study to work, friends to family, fears to ambitions we talked about it all. The constant deep conversations got us way closer in no time.
But as we all know, there is no happy ending in Bollywood without some drama happening :P
We both had never seen each other as more than friends. Best Friends. We loved each other’s company. But it was on his birthday when he went with his cousins to Mcleodganj and I could not talk to him for 4 days straight, I realised how much I missed him. The fact that how difficult it had become for me to pass couple of hours without talking to him, forget days, shook my entire mental system.
I knew instantly, that it was way more than friendship now. I loved him, I loved him way beyond I could accept to even myself.

I knew from day 1 that Harsh*t was never ready for any kind of serious relationship. He did not believe in the entire concept of marriage. But with me being the eldest daughter of a typical Punjabi family, had the pressure of Marriage showering upon my head. I knew it was no time for casual flings in my life. I was looking for a Forever.
Then started those dreadful months of Confessions, Denials, Confrontations, Explanations, Agreements, Disagreements and what not.
My folks, siblings, friends all had started to question, sensing the uneasiness in my life. They say silence is sometimes the best answer, but no one told, it could not last long :P

After 8 months of trying to convince Harsh*t for getting married, there came a time I had to give up on my father’s will. One fine day, I planned to inform Harsh*t on my decision of saying a yes to some guy I met through those ‘dreadful Matrimonial Aunties’. Oblivious of the fact that this evening would be changing the entire course of my life.
Something changed, something made him open up to me about his thoughts and fears. I could see a small ray of hope coming from a dark black sky.

He did not start to love me, he did not agree to get married, But he started discussing, started opening up about his fears of the entire marriage concept. This small thought was enough for me to take a big leap of faith. As a best friend, as someone who loved him immensely, I thought maybe it could work out.
It took two months to clear all his doubts before he realized, I was the one he can spend his life with.

“Getting Married to your Best Friend, to the one who loves you, is better than waiting for years to meet someone you might fall in love.”

In his words, “Pyaar ho jayega Kanika, aaj nahi toh Kal, but I am sure you are the one I can spend my entire life with.”

As we say, all is well that ends well…. From here started the beautiful Journey of
HARSHIKA: HARSH*T + KANIKA
