USTM and the entire ERDF family are deeply saddened by the demise of Former Meghalaya Chief Minister Salseng C. Marak, who passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, August 16. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and all those who were close to him. May his departed soul rest in eternal peace!

Today USTM celebrates India's 78th Independence Day with a colourful display of cultural diversity of the eight North Eastern states. Students in beautiful ethnic attire moved in a procession to honour the National Flag. Our NCC cadets and security personnel paraded and offered a guard of honour to the Tricolour.
The National Flag was hoisted by our Chief Guest Prof Suborno Isaac Bari, the world's youngest professor from New York University.

On the 78th Independence Day of India today, may the spirit of freedom, unity, and progress continue to inspire us all. Let us honor the sacrifices of our forefathers by working together for a prosperous and inclusive future. Wishing everyone a day filled with pride, patriotism, and joy. Jai Hind!

After the lecture session Prof Bari answered some of the questions that were put up by the students. During the question-answer session, a child prodigy from Little Flower School also challenged Prof Bari asking some questions about Physics to which Prof Bari solved within a minute.

World's Youngest Professor Suborno Issac Bari was felicitated at USTM today during his interaction session. He was felicitated by Chancellor M Hoque along with Vice Chancellor Prof GD Sharma, Advisor USTM Dr R.K Sharma and Prof Vice Chancellor Prof BK Das. Prof Bari was accompanied by his father Rashidul Bari and coordinator Pranesh Debnath.

Prof Bari spoke delightfully at Central Public School, Badarpur on why students do not opt for maths and science after an age. Prof Bari not only mentioned the problem but also gave some tips to the students to learn maths easily. Suborno asked the students to always face challenges in order to love these subjects. During his visit to Central Public School, Badarpur he also inaugurated an art and craft gallery.

Today, USTM proudly celebrated securing its NIRF-2024 Ranking for the third consecutive year. The Central Auditorium was abuzz with excitement as students, faculty members, and the entire USTM family gathered for this momentous occasion. The event featured addresses from Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor; Prof. GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor; and Dr. BK Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor. The celebration was further honored by the presence of Padma Shri Dr. Sarbeswar Sahariah, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. RK Sharma, Advisor USTM; Prof. BK Das, Principal of PIMC; Prof. RK Sharma, Principal IAMC; Dr. Rashna Dass Hazarika, Medical Superintendent PIMC; Mrs. Anju Hazarika, Registrar USTM; and many other distinguished guests.

Prof Suborno Isaac Bari had an interesting interaction with the students of Central Public School Patharkandi today. Isaac solved many questions and gave an insightful speech on children and Science'. Many students of the school showcased their talents while reciting poems, singing songs etc.

Today, USTM has organised a pledge-taking ceremony called "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day 2024 with the theme "Viksit Bharat ka Mantra Bharat ho Nashe se Swatantra". The event was held under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India.
