قدیم چینیوں نے جب حفاظت سے رہنا چاہا تو انہوں نے چین کی عظیم دیوار بنائی اور ان کا خیال تھا کہ اس کی اونچائی کی وجہ سے کوئی اس پر چڑھ نہیں سکتا لیکن دیوار کی تعمیر کے بعد پہلے سو سال کے دوران چین پر تین بار حملہ کیا گیا۔ !
اور ہر بار زمین پر دشمن کے لشکر کو گھسنے یا دیوار پر چڑھنے کی ضرورت نہیں پڑتی تھی بلکہ ہر بار وہ گارڈ کو رشوت دے کر دروازے سے اندر داخل ہوتے تھے.. چینی دیوار بنانے میں مصروف تھے اور پہرہ بنانا بھول گئے تھے!

*Supreme Court Debates Applicability of Article 370 to J&K Beyond 1957*
```Srinagar,Aug 22:a significant legal debate, the Supreme Court engaged in discussions over the continued applicability of Article 370 to Jammu and Kashmir beyond 1957.
The core argument revolved around whether the dissolution of the J&K Constituent Assembly in 1957 rendered the Indian Constitution frozen in its application to the region.
Senior Advocate Dinesh Dwivedi, representing the petitioners, argued that the abrogation of Article 370 amounted to a regressive measure.
He questioned the longstanding notion of "one nation, one constitution," highlighting that no explicit provision mandated this concept.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) responded by questioning whether the Indian government's power to apply constitutional provisions would cease after the Constituent Assembly's decision in 1957. Dwivedi noted that while the Indian government retained control over various matters through Union entries, he aimed to uncover the intent behind the debates surrounding the issue.
However, the CJI disagreed, contending that freezing the Constitution's application to J&K post-1957 would conflict with the region's status as an integral part of India.
He emphasized the need for provisions for the democratically elected government of J&K and highlighted the absence of constitutional clauses preventing the Indian Constitution's application to the region.
The debate extended to discussions on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act.
Senior Advocate CU Singh emphasized the Act's importance to the region and raised concerns about potential implications on democracy and federalism if Article 3's interpretation was upheld.
Senior Advocate Sanjay Parikh criticized the Parliament's action, labeling it unconstitutional as it changed the explanation without the Constituent Assembly's prior recommendation.
He stressed the people's sovereignty, enshrined in the J&K Constitution, and the paramountcy of a written constitution.
Senior Advocate PC Sen brought up the historical context of J&K's choice between India and Pakistan, noting that the conscious decision to be a minority in India rather than a majority in Pakistan should be carefully considered.
The hearing concluded without a clear resolution, and discussions are set to continue in the next session on Wednesday.(KNS)```
*2014 Acid Attack On Law Student: Court Sentences Convicts To Life Imprisonment*
Srinagar, Aug 23 (GNS): Six days after holding two persons guilty in “horrific" case of throwing acid on a 20-year-old law student at Nowshera Srinagar on 11 December 2014, a court here on Tuesday Sentenced them to life imprisonment.
The Principal District and Sessions Court Srinagar Jawad Ahmed announced the verdict in jam-packed Court, according to GNS correspondent.
The court had reserved the verdict on weekend after hearing arguments of Special Public Prosecutor AA Teeli who demanded maximum punishment of life imprisonment for the convicted while counsel representing the duo sought lesser punishment of ten years, considering mitigating circumstances.
On Thursday last, the court held the accused duo—Irshad Ahmad Wani alias Sunny Wazirbagh Srinagar and Muhammad Umar Noor of Bemina Srinagar— guilty of the offence under RPC’s Sections of 326-A (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid), 201 (destroying evidence) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
“I find that the prosecution has been able to establish the charges against the accused persons beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt. As such, this charge-sheet is accepted and the accused persons namely Irshad Amin Wani and Mohammed Umer Noor (Accused No.2), are held guilty for the offences punishable under Sections 326-A, 201 &120- B RPC,” the court said in thje verdict, a copy of which lies with GNS.
The court said that it find "absolutely no material from the defence side to suggest any probable reason for falsely implicating the accused persons in this case.”
“The established facts, circumstances and the chain of evidence taken cumulatively are so complete and consistent that in all human probabilities the only hypothesis is that the horrendous act of throwing acid on the victim has been committed by the accused No.2 in furtherance of the conspiracy hatched by accused No.1 with accused No.2,” the court had said, adding, “The established facts and circumstances do not leave any reasonable ground for the conclusion consistent with the innocence of the accused persons.”
Notably, on 11 December 2014, a young law student was grievously injured in the acid attack near Nowshera on the city outskirts while she was on way to her college.
Given the gravity of the offence which sent shock waves across the Valley, a Special Investigation Team, constituted by the then IGP Kashmir A.G. Mir under supervision of then SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar with then SP Rayees Mohammad Bhat (presently DIG South Kashmir) as incharge of SIT, arrested the two persons accused within a fortnight. (GNS)
