Book Recommendation

Throwback to when we did this amazing story- ‘Bee Wigged’ by 🐝

It’s such a wonderful book to introduce friendship, kindness, acceptance and being yourself!
We paired up the kids and helped them recognise what is unique about each one of them!
It's a must read to young kids, to further aid their ‘Sense of Self’.

At SLCLA, we believe that one is never too old to pick up and explore illustrated books!
We absolutely love how much picture books have to offer, to a child’s overall development.
Some key benefits of picture books are -
-Promoting visual thinking skills
-Build vocabulary
-Facilitate kids in making connections
- Introducing Art
- Help kids to be become better listeners
- Spark and interest for independent reading

Comment and tell us some of your favourite illustrated books!

Highlights from our Become a Readster Batch.
The students impromptu coined this poem-
'Jack & the Cornstalk' inspired from Jack and the Beanstalk!
We read and acted ‘fractured fairytales’ together and then thier imaginations swerved on a rhyming note!.

Happy Birthday 🎈
His work has inspired so many of our young minds and continues to do so.
The next few slides are a group of our voracious readers, who wanted to share their favorite scenes and characters from some of his stories.

📚Today, on International Literacy Day we cannot stress enough on the importance of this basic human right. has given us the right insight and the impact of the lockdown on the global literacy rates.
Here’s what we can do (as educators) to promote and spread literacy during these challenging times-
1. Donate and share free E-Books
2. Create simple videos of Read Aloud’s, tips and games that are easy to share
3. Fund a single child’s literacy tutoring
4. Organize free webinars and zoom classes to promote literacy & talk about favourite books along with creative writing assignments.
6. Join a community virtually and exchange ideas and resources to help and tutor people in your neighbourhood.

📚After reading a story, children often come up with unpredictable conclusions. This in turn gives us a perception of their self knowledge and understanding.📚

01/09/2020

✨Prediction is a great strategy to help kids increase their curiosity. This question can usually be asked before the climax of the story. It is an excellent way to bring their attention back to the story.✨

What do you do after reading a story to your kids?
Compare - Describe - Discuss. 💭 🧠
Asking open ended questions like these, will not only tickle their creative minds, but give us a fair understanding of what they have comprehended from the text. This will also motivate them to read more and pay close attention to the details.

Text-to-Self connections is the best way to build empathy. It gives kids the freedom to think beyond the parameters of the story and also to explore their own thoughts.

Making Text-to-Text connections often helps in increasing their understanding about the story and its underlying meaning.

✨Asking children about the setting is a super way to make Text-To-World connections. These connections help tap into their prior knowledge, increase engagement and polish their comprehension skills.✨
