🏵️RAAVANANUGRAHA🏵️
The depiction of Ravana shaking mountain Kailash while lord Shiva and goddesses Parvati were sitting on it is called Ravananugraha.🙏

“Ravana” means “terrifying cry” and “Ravananugraha” means “kindness to Ravana”.

Ravana decided to uproot the mountain Kailash, infuriated by Nandi’s curse and his inability to proceed further. He put all his twenty arms under Kailash and started lifting it. As Kailash began to shake, a terrified Parvati embraced Shiva. However, the omniscient Shiva realized that Ravana was behind the menace and pressed the mountain into place with his big toe, trapping Ravana beneath it. Ravana gave a loud cry in pain. Advised by others, Ravana sang hymns in praise of Shiva for a thousand years. Finally, Shiva not only forgave Ravana but also granted him an invincible sword (chandrahasta Khadga) .
Since Ravana cried, he was given the name “Ravana” – one who cried.

🙏Shiva and Parvati are depicted seated on Mount Kailash in the upper portion of the painting, while Ravana, lifting the mount is portrayed in the lower part.🏵️

🏵️In pattachitra painting, Patti (a handmade canvas made indeginiously with traditional techniques ) is the main support,

So painting on Patti means patta-chitra.

but except that we r also using tassur silk, fine silk and canvas as the support .
The main reason is to avoid the damages happening during the transportation of the painting as handmade Patti is very delicate and stiff in nature .It needs utmost care.🏵️

An exclusively indigenous tradition of Orissa, the craft of palm leaf manuscripts dates back to the medieval period. Usually the legends of Ramayana and Mahabharata, images of gods and goddesses, the nature and wildlife themes are presented. Vibrant visual vegetable and mineral colors are used.
Palm leaf engraving, also called Talapatra chitra or Chitrapothi. It is an ancient form of folk art originated in the Indian State of Orissa. Colors are muted and have a minor role to play. The themes used are mythological, spiritual and erotic.
