What’s up with Single Origin 🍒 Coffees?

Simply put Single origins are coffees that’s sourced from one single producer or an estate. We can go a step further and find coffee labels that tell you the estate name or if its a microlot you can go ahead and check a specific varietal of a specific farm.

But what’s so special?

The most important thing about single origin is its traceability, the fact that you know exactly where your coffee is from.

Single origins allow the coffee lovers to understand a specific coffee or profile in its own right.

It’s also a great way to show consumers what’s behind a specific coffee and the love and passion each producers and roasters puts into production.

What all Single Origins Coffees have you tasted? Let us know in the comments section. Share it with your coffee lover and ‘to be’ coffee lover friends ✨

It’s one of the rarest types of coffee. Connoisseurs treasure it for its delicacy. And it is neither a pea nor a berry. This is a Peaberry!

Coffee beans grow within fruits called cherries; when ripe, they turn a vibrant red. Most of the time, the cherry contains two seeds that grow side-by-side. These are typical coffee beans. Growing together within the fruit, they develop that shape that you’re familiar with, with a flat side and a domed side.

About 5-10% of the time, however, only one seed grows within the cherry, possibly due to only one ovule being pollinated. These single beans are called peaberries.

Peaberry coffee beans impart bright acidity, sweetness, complex flavors than their counterparts. Have you tasted Peaberry Coffee yet? Do let us know in the comments.

Introducing Ethiopia 🇪🇹 (Yirgacheffe)

Thought to be the true origin of the coffee plant, Ethiopia has the perfect conditions for coffee growing. From tales of Kaldi and his antsy goats to the reverent tone of voice with which coffee lovers say the word “Yirgacheffe" (pronounced yer-guh-cheff), Ethiopian coffee beans conjure up pure coffee romance. Go ahead, say it. It rolls off the tongue.

Within the popular Yirgacheffe growing region of Southern Ethiopia you will find the small woreda or district called Kochere. Kochere provides communal washing stations for local farmers to process their coffee after the harvest. This African district is well known for producing high-quality Ethiopian coffee beans - where the acidic, mineral dense soil and soaring altitudes make for a perfect coffee growing micro-climate.

Packaging: The packaging has been inspired by the birds life of Ethiopia. The pack includes a bird named The Abyssinian roller, is a member of the roller family of birds which breeds across tropical Africa in a belt south of the Sahara. They are fearless, and will dive and roll at humans and other intruders.

Introducing Brazil 🇧🇷 Cerrado

Brazil is the largest coffee-growing country in the world, responsible for 30 percent of coffee grown worldwide. One of the most notable coffee regions in Brazil is Cerrado, in southwestern Minas Gerais.

Cerrado is a vast tropical and subtropical biome that includes forests, marshlands and grassland. Covering more than 20 percent of Brazil, it is the largest savannah in South America.

The name cerrado translates as closed, and the region remained so until the 1960s, when farmers began treating the soil. Over the years, the grasslands were transformed into agricultural and pasture land. Brazil Cerrado coffee is grown at altitudes of 900–1,250 meters above sea level.

Most coffees are processed using natural and pulped-natural processes, meaning the coffee is dried with all or a large amount of fruit on the bean.

Coffee Notes: The Coffee is the lightest roast of Toffee Coffee Roasters and imparts hints of roasted Almonds and dry grapes. Indeed a delicacy for people who enjoy Espresso Roasts.

Recommended Brewing Methods: Espresso, Home Espresso Machine, Moka Pot and Cold Brew
