Ways to protect yourself from heat
Summers would be beautiful if it comes minus the “Scorching Heat” bit. In summers every time we think of going out the thought of scorching heat, dehydration, eye damage, skin damage and heat strokes haunt us. High temperatures and humidity can have significant stresses on the body, in particular as we tend to spend more time outdoors during warmer weather. So it is very important that we remain careful and save ourselves from the ill effects of the scorching summer.
Here are five easy steps to protect yourself from the scorching heat this summer:
1. INCREASE WATER CONSUMPTION
Drink plenty of water before going outside and after coming back as it will prevent dehydration. Enrich your diet with fruits that contain high water content like watermelons, oranges, grapes etc. Lemon drinks are useful source of many minerals that will save you from the ill effects of the scorching heat.
2. DRESS APPROPRIATELY
Embrace the cottons and linens that are light in color. Light colors do not attract heat rays as much as dark colors. So it helps stay afresh and feel cool. Wearing loose fitting clothes is also of great help. Extreme heat is harmful to your health as well as public persona. So it is very important to dress appropriately to protect from extreme heat and avoid messy and tired look.
3. AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
Try to avoid sun exposure as far as possible and try to stay in shade when outside. Avoiding sun exposure can to a great extent help in tackling with the problem of heat strokes. Inside home air conditioning and fan must be taken care of to prevent other ill effects of summer.
4. USE SUNGLASSES
Sunglasses help protect eyes and prevent eye damage that can occur because of scorching heat. Preferably choose that kind of sunglasses that screen out both UVA and UVB sunrays. It should be of close fitting to face and have larger lenses as such feature help offer more protection.
5. WEAR SUNSCREEN
Use sunscreen of appropriate level as it helps protect skin from sun damage. Use sunscreen at least of SPF 30. But it is important to know that wearing sunscreen does not liberate you from observing other basic precaution like wearing appropriate clothing, staying in shade as far as possible etc. Waterproof sunscreen would be good as it will not get washed out if you sweat. Always apply sunscreen at least 10 minute before you go out in sunny day.
