Do we spend enough time amidst nature?
Spending time in nature can reduce biological indicators of stress and increase longevity.
That 20 min walk in the park does a lot more for us than just burning calories
We expect the world to love us, accept us, and be kind to us. But for us to experience love to the fullest, we must be capable of loving the same way that we want to be loved.
Love begins with ourselves and extends to others - when it overflows.
How do we see beauty? Is it external? Internal? Why do we gravitate towards things that we consider beautiful? How do we define beauty?
Did you know that spending time in nature helps us get over stress and anxiety? It induces feelings of calmness, and improves your emotional well-being. Just 2 hrs a week can make all the difference.
So find a park, find some trees, if you live near the ocean, take a walk on the beach… but get out amidst nature.

Have we thought about indian foods and breakfast?
A large number of indian breakfast cuisines include a balanced amount of natural protein and complex carbs.
Every region in india has healthy breakfast options that are a great start to your day. Obviously the small choices that we make while cooking the breakfast makes all the difference.
Here are a few breakfast options that have protein in it.
- idlis with a slightly larger amount of lentils
- moong dal chila
- poha with black gram sprouts
- Upma made with various grains (millet, quinoa, some sprout etc)
- uttapam and dosa (just mitigate the oil usage)
- thepla with dal
- Dalia Upma
- dhokla
Many of us limit ourselves because we fear failure even before a whole hearted attempt. Why do we do this to ourselves? What are we afraid of? Whose parameters of success?
Let’s talk about food, and how we see it.
Here are some pictures of foods that are a mix of indian and western cuisine.
- a smoothie bowl with mango lassi and fruits
- orange juice, banana smoothie with granola, and horsegram lentils made the indian way
- salad with arugula and a mix of fruits
Raw foods are an important part of our diet. Different cuisines and cultures incorporate raw foods in different ways. Its necessary to have some portion of our daily diet ‘raw’ .
A traditional South Indian meal has raw food right at the beginning. Usually it is served as a lentil salad that’s mixed with cucumber, tomato, pomegranate, corn or even peanuts sometimes.
How do you incorporate raw foods in your daily diet? Why are raw fruits and vegetables so important for us?
Any thoughts?
Making space for another is a very beautiful experience. But to truly make space and embrace another person, being, community, society, country, culture, world…. One must begin with loving and accepting one self.
So love yourself! Celebrate your body… and everything else about you.
As we grow out of childhood, we curtain natural physical expressions of emotions. Jumping for joy, twirling because you feel like it, skipping down the street for no reason are all things that we are taught not to do to be ‘proper’.
Once in a while, moving for no reason at all, can be freeing in more ways than one.
The ‘dance with me’ series on gets you moving and helps you find the joy of movement within every one of us.
Our entire society revolves around making ourselves more beautiful, more attractive, more presentable.
We constantly find ourselves to be physically inadequate in many ways. But are we not beautiful as we are?
Wearing a beautiful dress or shirt should ideally be a celebration of our own beauty. An eyeliner, or a lipstick perceived as an ornament to one’s existing beauty changes how we see ourselves. An ornament that we choose to wear as opposed to something that we need to make us feel whole.
It’s not about rejecting anything, but about seeing it as something that we choose to have to celebrate ourselves, rather than an appendage to fill gaps of inadequacies.
What we term as “Bhakti” in india, is this type of celebration. The idea of finding joy in one’s existence by recognising the beauty in this world is Bhakti.
We often think of acceptance as something that we must have to embrace differences in society, but acceptance of oneself and the acceptance of success and perceived failure allows us to function with equanimity and thoughtfulness.
What is Dharma? So simply explained. Treat the word as you expect to be treated…
An excerpt from “FREEDOM” by Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
So many of our mental health Issues stem from feeling inadequate. Everyone of us is whole, complete, full and special. Why do we still feel this way? Don’t we truly need to be free?
An excerpt from “FREEDOM” by Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
This short read gives one a simple perspective on the idea of freedom. What it means spiritually to be free. We loved it… and it’s not elaborate or long. Facts of life, explained with logic and simplicity…
“FREEDOM” by Swami Dayananda Saraswati
