'One Person,One Tree' Campaign marked 73 Van Mahotsav celebration at Dziiduri, Tunggam Village.

'If children lose contact with nature, they won’t fight for it'

Liyai Range Senapati Forest Division organized a “Tree plantation program” at Dziiduri Eco-Adventure Tourism Park to commemorate 73 Van Mahotsav on 1st July,2022. Khumai (Tunggam) Union and Hills Eco-Adventure Tourism, Manipur (HEAT-M) took the lead in collaborating the programme.

Speaking on the historic occassion, Shri A. Kho Peter, Chairman, Khumai Union remarked,'The millennial generation today are overstimulated by smartphones and computer screens but has lost connection with mother nature'.

'The next generation need to be immersed in nature to truly value its sacredness.If children lose contact with nature, they won’t fight for it.To save the endangered environment for the future generation must be our fundamental duty',He appealed the congregation.

Traole Rai, President of Hills Eco Adventure Tourism-Manipur(HEAT-M) shared, 'Dziiduri has huge potential to be a hot tourist destination.He said that the main objective of choosing the site for afforestion is to provide a gorgeous tree-lined hiking trails that are easy to access so that visitors can feel and be one with the trees'.

Lauding the enthusiasm and collaboration, Benjamin Ziipao, the Range Officer of Liyai Range said, 'The participatory approach with direct community involvement in reforestation is the first of its kind in the region.This silviculture based tourism strategy sync towards achieving maximum benefits from trees for local communities as well as the environment at large helping to offset pollution from large tourist influx'.

The villagers joined the community plantation and made it a huge success.

The 50th Batch of Manipur Forest Guards led by Shri Hijam Martin Luwang, RO & Deputy Director, Manipur Forest Training School, Govt of Manipur and Shri Benjamin Ziipao, Range Officer, Liyai Khunou Range, Senapati Forest Division, Govt of Manipur take a thrilling tour to Dziiduri (Eco-Adventure Tourism Park) at Khumai (Tunggam) Village, under Paomata Sub-Division, Senapati District, Manipur on 29 May 2022 as part of their Internal Tour and Training Course Programme.

The Tour was incorporated with an Interactive session,Hiking and Trekking along the long adventurous picturesque stretch mountains at Dziiduri. The President & Secretary of Hills Eco Adventure Tourism-Manipur (HEAT-M) Welcome and encouraged the young energetic Forest Guards.

The program was also attended by Shri S. Low (Chairman,Tunggam Khullen Village) Shri Ashe Dale (Secretary, Tunggam Khullen Village) Shri A Robert Theo (President, KYSO) Shri Kho Danii(Gen Secy, KYSO) and theirs colleagues, senior leaders, Well Wishers and the Village youths.

Purul (locally called Hiimai) is a beautiful village situated 19 Km from the National Highway 2 in Senapati District, Manipur. The village is touched and surrounded by golden paddy fields and a breezing mountains that comes almost a semi-circle giving the look of an arena making the picturesque Valley a scenic sanctuary.

Purul Village perfectly delineates the vibrant traditions and beautiful cultures of the Poumai Naga Tribe. It is a major tourist attraction in the district. As a tourism perspective, Purul is one of those concealed solitaires that one can't afford to ignore or miss it while on a trip to Senapati District or the State Manipur. The stunning nature sedating ambience and the spellbinding tourist attraction in Purul makes a vacation here indelible.

The people of Purul(Hiimai) are better known for their hospitality and the village is one of the most favorite venues in the region for social events. One of the most popular attractive festival among festivals is PAOKI (Paddy Transplantation Festival) which falls in the month of May. Thousands of people from all walks of life long for this festival and the guests who come for the 3-day Paoki festival are treated with free food, drinks and shelter.

Kapamodzu Peak in Zhavame Village is a place to go for if you visit Phek District in Nagaland. The peak gives you a stupendous view of the entire Saramati range in the east, Japfii peak in the south, apart from Kohima and several other villages of both Nagaland and Manipur. Zhavame Village is nestled below Mt. Kapamodzu which stands at 2620 m and is the fourth highest peak in Nagaland.

Giant Himalayan Lily(Cardiocrinum Giganteum) locally known as Beivo grows wild at Trahchi Range in Liyai (Zhaimai) Village under Paomata Sub-Division, Senapati Dist. Manipur between the end of May & June converting the mountain into a beautiful Blooming Natural Garden.

The great Barak River begin its humble journey from the hills of Liyai village and blesses the generations. The village is bestowed with rich heritage of folklores, legends, stories and historical places apart from its beautiful landscape and natural beauties. At a distance of 30 kms from Senapati District HQ, Koide Biisho & Zhophao is a picturesque pristine scenic meadows situated near the bank of Barak River. It is one of the best places to visit in Senapati.

The meadows are painted in a multitude hues from silent green in summer to soft vibrant orange when winter. Furthermore, at the bottom is a gurgling peaceful Barak River that flows down admist between the rich paddy fields.

Tourists and Picnic-Goers can have the full Cosmos date in the first week of October!!!
