Police has arrested one person and recovered 45 bottles of illegal liquor from his possession in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

House Officer (SHO) Anantnag Mir Masarat told KNN that the person, Mukhtar Ahmed Shah of Lok Bawan Larkipora, at present Chee, was apprehended near post office Anantnag with 5 bottles of liquor.

β€œDuring investigation his rented house was raided at Chee (Anantnag) and 40 more bottles of liquor were recovered in presence of magistrate,” he said.

The police officer said that a case (FIR No. 90/21) under relevant sections has been registered and investigation taken up. KNN

IGP Jammu reviews security scenario law & order of Jammu Region

Jammu, August 31st 2020:- Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone , Jammu Sh. Mukesh Singh –IPS chairs a meeting through video conferencing with Range DIsG and District SSsP of Jammu Zone in order to review security of PRIs/ULBs functionaries, law & order and security scenario of Jammu Region.

During meeting detailed briefing was given by the Range DIsG and District SSsP one by one with regard to security of PRIs/ULB functionaries, law and order/overall security scenario of their respective districts/ranges. The district SSsP also appraised IGP Jammu Zone with regard to emerging situation in view of the COVID-19 Pandemic and measures which are being taken to curb the spread of Corona-virus.

appreciated the efforts made by police to contain the spread of corona-virus and in maintenance of Law & order in Jammu Division. In view of the Intelligence inputs received from sister agencies, the district SSsP were advised to have fresh security review of PRIs and ULB functionaries and also take care of the security of vital installations as well as other protected persons. They were also advised to maintain close co-ordination with all sister agencies as well as force deployed in their respective district especially in border districts i.e. Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch to prevent infiltration and foil the nefarious designs of ANEs and their mentors operating across IB/LOC. Besides, district SSsP were directed to brief their supervisory officers/SHOs to focus on OGWs/Surrendered/released terrorists and their activities should be kept under close surveillance.

*Policeman shot dead in Hiller Anantnag*

Srinagar, April 19 : A policeman was killed after fired upon by suspected militants at his residence in Hiller Shahabad area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

A police officer told that the militants opened fire upon the policeman namely Manzoor Ahmad Dar at Hiller village at around 9:35 pm. The officer also confirmed that the policeman was at home when the attack took place.

Dar, a Selection Grade Constable and working as Munshi at Police Station Larnoo was removed to nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

He said that police team has been rushed to the spot and further investigations are under way.

*Seven booked for concealing travel history*

UDHAMPUR: Cops at Police Station Majalta under the supervision of Dy.SP (Prob.), Latief Khan intercepted two trucks bearing numbers JK13C-5925 and JK22B-1016 at Battal naka, Majalta.

During search of the vehicles seven persons including five men and two ladies were found travelling in the trucks by hiding themselves.

These seven persons were Rahila Chowdhary, Ab Jawahar, Mukhtar Ahmed, all residents of Batote; Hussain, resident of Kulgam; Mehraj Ah Butt and Abid Fayaz, both of Shopian and Ayesha of Khanyar, Srinagar.

They came from Delhi and also managed to escape Lakhanpur Naka and also concealed their travel history in order to evade necessary quarantine.

Both the trucks were seized and a case in FIR No. 33/2020 U/S 188/270 IPC was registered at PS Majalta in this regard.

All the 7 persons will be quarantine and further legal against them will be initiated against them after the quarantine period.

*Man injured in cross-border shelling in Poonch*

Poonch, April 17: A person was injured in shelling at Kirni sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

A police officer said that the civilian namely Mohd Saffir (19) son of Mohd Sadiq of Dhokri received splinter injuries today in the afternoon.

He said that the incident occurred when troops of Pakistan attacked Indian posts in the area.

Meanwhile, a defense spokesman in a statement said that Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms & shelling with Mortars along LoC in Qasba & Kirni sectors, District Poonch.

Elderly Covid-19 patient dies at SKIMS Bemina, toll 5 in J&K

A Covid-19 patient died at JVC SKIMS Bemina here in Srinagar on Friday. With the death of the patient, the toll in Jammu and Kashmir has touched to 5. Four persons have died of Covid-19 infection in Kashmir, while one died in Udhampur.

Medical Superintendent JVC SKIMS, Bemina, Dr Shafia Deval told that a Covid-19 patient who was admitted in the hospital after he was declared positive died this afternoon.

:- 25 fresh Covid-19 cases, total in J&K rises to 209*

Srinagar, April 19 : Jammu and Kashmir reported 25 new cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 209, official sources told

They said that among the fresh cases include 18 in Kashmir Valley and seven in Jammu.

Among the 18 cases in Kashmir Valley, sources said 10 are said to from Kupwara and Baramulla districts of north Kashmir.

Regarding Jammu cases, they said, six are contacts of a 61-year-old woman who died on April 8 and are all residents of Udhampur district, the home town of the deceased woman who was cremated at Jammu yesterday β€œin accordance with her wish.”

With these fresh cases, 209 have tested positive for the dreaded disease so far in Jammu and Kashmir and include 170 in Kashmir and 29 in Jammu division.

*100-yr-old man dies in quarantine in Udhampur, COVID-19 test report negative*

πŸ‘‰Jammu April 5: A 100-year-old man has died in a quarantine centre in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir but his COVID-19 test report has come negative, a senior government official said on Sunday.

The man and his brother were shifted to a quarantine facility a few days ago as a precautionary measure after it came to light that they had come in contact with a person in Magheni village who had tested positive for coronavirus, District Development Commissioner of Udhampur Piyush Singla said.

β€œHe breathed his last on Saturday night and his body was subsequently shifted to the district hospital according to protocol since his test report was awaited. The report was received on Sunday morning and it came negative,” he told PTI.

Jammu and Kashmir has so far recorded two coronavirus deaths, while 90 people β€” 69 in Kashmir and 21 in Jammu β€” have tested positive. Three patients have recovered and discharged from hospital.

β€œThe man was asymptomatic and was shifted to one of the best available quarantine facilities given his age and close contact with the positive case. He did not have any major health problem except old-age related issues,” Singla said.

Three persons from Narsoo village in Udhampur tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. Following this, the district magistrate declared Narsoo and Chunti villages as red zones and their surrounding villages as buffer zones.

β€œThere shall be no inward or outward movement of any person from these villages and people shall stay at their homes. There shall be complete lockdown. That there shall be no vehicular movement on internal lanes or roads connecting these villages,” Singla said in an order and warned of stern action against violators.

He also directed the officers concerned to ensure supply of essential commodities to the villages in accordance to the protocols.PTI

```Sopore, April 05 : A motorcyclist was critically injured in a road mishap on Bandipora-Sopore highway in Janwara area of Warpora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.

Officials said a bike bearing registration number JK05F-6585 which was coming from Hathlangoo to Sopore collided with a Car UP16 X 2909 coming from opposite direction at Janwara Warpora.

In the mishap the biker who identified as Irshad Manzoor Lone of Hathlangoo was injured critically and was rushed to Sub District Hospital Sopore where from he was reffered to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile police took cognizance of this road mishap.```

Kreeri Police on Friday evening rescued Two boys who had left their home to join militant ranks.
Additional SP Baramulla Told that, the minors were traced by a special team of kreeri police along with Army's 52RR and 176 Bn Crpf after their parents lodged a missing report on 28 april at police station chandoosa.
Their identity will not be revealed to safeguard their future, he added.
They had been indoctrinated and influenced by false narratives," a police spokesperson said
To ensure quick and timely action, the police constituted a special team and with the help of the families, traced all the boys, the official said.

Later, both boys were counseled and handed over to the parents.

: The number of COVID-19-affected patients increased in Jammu and Kashmir to 92 as fourteen more persons tested positive for the infection in Kashmir Valley on Saturday, officials said.

Official sources told LIVE KASHMIR NEWS that among those who tested positive include 8 persons admitted to GMC Baramulla. Five other persons are admitted to SKIMS while another one is at Chest Disease hospital Dalgate, one of the Kashmir exclusive COVID-19 management hospitals, they said.

Earlier three persons tested positive in Udhampur district of Jammu division.

β€œThree more positive cases reported today from Narsoo, Udhampur. All contacts of a positive patient from Udhampur with travel history abroad,” Principal Secretary Planning, Information and Government Spokesperson, Rohit Kansal tweeted.

As per officials, out of these 92 COVID-19-affected people, 87 are active patients as three personsβ€”two from Jammu and one (first COVID-19 patient) from Kashmir have been discharged while two others died. Among the active cases, 68 are in Kashmir and 19 are in Jammu.
