Ever since I discovered the songs of Indian singer-songwriter Dilip Balakrishnan of the 70s rock group, 'High' through Sidharth Bhatia's book, 'India Psychedelic', I was intrigued to listen to his unreleased recordings. I was fortunate enough to be able to work this out with Dilip's family (Mala and Tejan) and the surviving members of the band (Lew, Nondon and Adi). The project involved getting two batches of High's unreleased material cleaned and out on digital music streaming services for everyone to enjoy. The albums, 'White Knight's Tale' and 'Winter Planet' which hold great archival value and establish Balakrishnan as a world-class songwriter, are now out. Unfortunately, Dilip passed on a year before I was born. Despite not having met him or seen him live, I sense a deep connection with him through his songs that have inspired me. This is just an attempt to make sure that his amazing music is preserved and hopefully, never forgotten.
