JRF POSITION AVAILABLE
One Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position is available in the Microbial Engineering group, in the lab of Dr. Syed Shams Yazdani in an industry-funded project. The position is available initially for one year with annual extensions based on performance and achieving objectives.
Please note that this is temporary project position whose duration is only for the tenure of the sanctioned project. The salary will be as per DST norms, based on qualification and experience.
Position- Junior Research Fellow (Molecular Biology)
Job description: The selected candidate will be conducting Molecular/Synthetic biology experiments to engineer genome of bacterial strains for production of a commercial product. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing detailed technical reports summarizing the result and for the timely submission of these reports.
Qualifications: M.Sc/ M.Tech, Life Sciences or other related field with experience in molecular biology techniques.
Desirable qualifications: Experience in Metabolic engineering, and genome engineering will be preferred.

One Research Associate (RA) position is immediately available to work in Yeast Biofuel Group in an industry sponsored project. The project involves Yeast Metabolic engineering and fermentation for production of industry related compounds. Candidate with prior research experience of working with Yeast, Fermentation and molecular biology tools and techniques is desirable. Initially, this position is available for the period of one year and based on the performance of the candidate can be further extended till the project duration.

1. RA-Fungal Engineering
Job description: The selected candidate will be responsible for performing Crispr-Cas9
based engineering of fungus (Aspergillus species) with the aim of increasing citric acid
production. Other responsibilities include:
Culture and molecular biology of the fungus
Measurement of cellular components
Preparation of reports for quarterly meetings
Coordinate with team members to analyse the experimental data.
Qualifications: The incumbent should have Ph.D. in Life Sciences/
Biotechnology/equivalent or having at least 3 years of research experience after ME/M.
Tech/M.Pharm. Prior experience in culturing fungi, molecular biology, and genetic
engineering will be preferred.

Program Manager (1 Position) – The incumbent should have 5-10 years of research and/or management experience post- M.Tech/PhD with demonstrated skill in managing the project. M.Tech/PhD in energy, environmental sciences or related areas will be preferable.
The incumbent will be expected to fulfill the aforementioned objectives of MI programme of India by coordinating between Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India and other stakeholders, oversee and coordinate landscaping of clean energy program, organize stakeholder meetings and workshop, coordinate with MI secretariat of other countries, update the apex MI secretariat with periodic reports on activities and progress of MI in India, share information, collate media reports and give wide publicity to MI initiatives, etc.
Salary – Initial salary ranging from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 90,000 depending upon the relevant experience.

REASERCH ASSOCIATE POSITIONS AVAILABLE
DBT funded positions are available in the Microbial Engineering Group, ICGEB, New Delhi. The positions for three Research Associates are available for one year. These are temporary project positions whose durations are only up to the tenure of the DBT-funded project.
1. RA-Computational analyses (1 position)
Job description: The selected candidate will be responsible for performing different kind of computational analysis related to biofuel work in the joint collaboration with Dr. Shams Yazdani and Dr. Shireesh Srivastava. The analysis will include –
• Analysis of NGS data of fungi and bacteria
• Analysis of genome, transcriptome and proteome data
• Development of fungal and bacterial genome scale metabolic model
• Performing Flux Balance Analysis of fungal and bacterial species
• Coordinate with team members to analyse the experimental data.
Qualifications: The applicant should have Ph.D. in bioinformatics/ biotechnology/ equivalent, or have 3 years of research experience after ME/ M.Tech./ M.Pharm. Prior experience with Linux, Matlab and R-language will be essential. Analysis of NGS data, and experience in FBA, MFA, GSMM will be desirable.
2. RA-Metabolic Engineering (2 positions)
Job description: The selected candidate will be responsible for performing metabolic engineering of bacteria (E. coli or Paenibacillus) to produce biofuel molecules, such as butanol, isobutanol, short chain alcohol, etc. The work will include –
• Analysis of Genome Scale Metabolic Models (GSMMs) of these organisms
• Metabolic engineering of the bacteria
• Analysis of internal/external metabolites using GC/MS/FID or LC/MS
Qualifications: The incumbent should have Ph.D. in biotechnology/equivalent or having 3 years of research experience after ME/M. Tech/M.Pharm. Prior experience on molecular biology, metabolite analysis on GC-MS/LC-MS will be essential. Experience on GSMM and metabolic engineering will be desirable.
Salary: The salary for RA position will be as per DBT/DST norms.
