Our Story

A man with an immense love for food, Deshbir Singh Walia more commonly known as Singhji, started this bar and restaurant by the same name, back in 2005 on the eastern fringes of Kolkata. From a single-storey restaurant, it evolved to become a 4-storey property. Serving the most delicious North Indian delicacies,this became a busy place known for serving mouth watering food at reasonable prices. The menu was an amalgam of traditional Punjabi recipes handed down from one generation to the next as well as innovations catering to modern taste buds.

Currently run by his wife Rita Walia, Singhjis continues to follow Deshbir's legacy of hearty fare served with warmth and tradition. On the threshold of launching a roof top eatery and a family dining area under a new banner “1644” with a more diverse multi cuisine menu, Singhji’s is set to groweven more.
