A bearded man, who is like a messiah in the imaginary coastal village of Ramadapally in Kerala, is picked up by law enforcement agencies from the airport and charged with TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act. That is what sets the tone of the film, Malik. A 13-minute long single take at the very beginning of the film somehow betrays the upcoming crisis for the protagonist as he is getting ready for Haj pilgrimage.
Sulaiman aka Ali Ikka, played by Fahadh Faasil, is an 'innocent' smuggler. He sells the smuggles goods with his childhood friend, David, (Vinay Forrt) whose sister Sulaiman will fall in love with. They sell the smuggled goods under the guardianship of local smuggling kingpin, Chandran (Nisthar Sait). under the guardianship of local smuggling kingpin, Chandran (Nisthar Sait). Everything was fine until Ali and his friends parted ways with the kingpin smuggler and started selling smuggled goods i.e.all by himself. Things turn ugly when Chandran gets killed by Ali. The reason being his godown being set on fire by some goons of Chandran. As many as 13 - 14 children get killed in the fire. After this Sulaiman becomes a subject of sore point for the police and local administration. He single-handedly thwarts every move of the unfriendly and tyrant administration, which wants to gain politically by creating rift between the two communities i.e., Muslims and Christians.
Ali Ikka loses his son, Ameer in a riot instigated by the police in collusion with the local politician, who happens to be a wolf in a sheep's clothing all this while. Ali Ikka takes control of the situation and the village, Ramadapally by executing some murder of a few policemen and attack on the Collector of the district.
