Ruchi's Institute was established in May 1990 with an aim to impart Vocational Education. A humble beginning was made with one student. The Institute has trained over a thousand students in highly specialized disciplines through vocational skill based Diploma and Certificate courses. More than 5000 students have drawn upon the expertise of the Institute in short term hobby courses. Today the institute is "affiliated to the Board of Technical Education, Lucknow", "approved by the All India Council for Technical Education" and "Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University" with a total intake of 240 students. The Institute thus has a Polytechnic status. Apart from this, the Institute is a study center for Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University for Graduation in Fashion Designing and Textile Designing. The institute also offers short term hobby courses with special provision during school vacations where children can pick up skills for a particular art or craft. Senior faculty members' endowments with intellect and technical competence in their respective fields impart professional vocational education to its students. There is a reference library with more than 1500 rare books on art and craft. It has a computer section dedicated to CAD with latest designing software. Regular workshops and lectures on personality development, visits to the respective industries, interaction with experts from the industry, lectures, seminars, fashion presentations, competitions, sports, etc. are organized regularly for the overall development of the students. The institute aims to provide a complete environment for the students so that they become employable youth for the industry. The students are sent for industrial training as part of their course curriculum which helps them in finding easy placements in the industry on completion of course. The institute operates from its main building in the heart of the city in Civil Lines and an Extension Campus in Chak Kriparam, Naini with full academic and sports facilities for its students.
