Introducing the first committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the United Nations Human Rights Council, or UNHRC.

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system which is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and make recommendations on them. It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year. It meets at the UN Office at Geneva. The Council is made up of 47 United Nations Member States which are elected by the UN General Assembly. The Human Rights Council replaced the former United Nations Commission on Human Rights.

This committee is a beginer-level committee, discussing the agenda “Deliberation on the situation of ethnic minorities in the world with special emphasis on Russian-Ukrainian War”

Introducing the second committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, or UNCSW.

Gender equality is not only a basic human right, but its achievement has enormous socio-economic rami- fications. Empowering women fuels thriving economies, spurring productivity and growth. Yet gender inequalities remain deeply entrenched in every society. Women lack access to decent work and face occupational segregation and gender wage gaps. They are too often denied access to basic education and health care. Women in all parts of the world suffer violence and discrimination. They are under-represented in political and economic decision-making processes.
UNCSW has been described as the UN organ promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UNCSW was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.

This committee is a beginer-level committee, discussing the agenda “Discussion on femicide and gender-based violence with special emphasis on SDG 5”

Introducing the third committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the United Nations Children's Fund, or UNICEF.

UNICEF, originally called the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, now officially United Nations Children's Fund, is an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. The agency is among the most widespread and recognizable social welfare organizations in the world, with a presence in 192 countries and territories. UNICEF's activities include providing immunizations and disease prevention, administering treatment for children and mothers with HIV, enhancing childhood and maternal nutrition, improving sanitation, promoting education, and providing emergency relief in response to disasters.

This committee is a beginer-level committee, discussing the agenda "Deliberation over increasing education for children in Lower & Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) with emphasis on SDG 4"

Introducing the fourth committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the United Nations Security Council.

The United Nations Security Council is among the five primary organs of the United Nations and takes the lead in deciding the actuality of peace or an act of aggression. The UNSC judgments are binding on all member states. The UNSC holds veto power. The UN's part in transnational security is to dissect situations affecting transnational peace; therefore, recommending a different process for peaceful resolution of a disagreement; turning to member nations to suspend profitable relations as well as the ocean, air, and radio dispatches; or to ramify political relations; and applying its opinions militarily, or by any means necessary.

This committee will be an advanced-level committee, deliberating on the agenda "Deliberation on the increasing human intervention in the Arctic region with special reference to UNCLOS"

Introducing the fifth committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the International Press Institute or IPI.

International Press Institute (IPI) is a global organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of press freedom and the improvement of journalism practices. The institution was founded by 34 editors from 15 countries at Columbia University in October, 1950 and currently has members in over 120 countries.
IPI's membership is made up of editors and media executives working for some of the world's most respected media outlets. IPI has also established a new membership category: "IPI Leading Journalists" which is open to heads of media departments, bureau chiefs, correspondents and others.

This committee will be an intermediate-level committee, discussing the agenda "Discussion on the methods towards increasing ethical journalism", for the journalists.

Introducing the sixth committee being simulated at Jaipuria Model United Nations Conference 2022, the All India Political Parties Meet or AIPPM.

The AIPPM is a forum of unrestricted political debate with deliberation on national issues, free from the legislative functions of the parliament. It is a platform for students to express their political views and realities by specific political parties, which they represent. Lok Sabha is a venture to emulate political realities by stimulating the various levels of policy and governance existing in our nation today. Participants are allotted specific political parties, which they represent. All the representatives must be well versed, with their political party’s ideology, manifesto and beliefs. It is important that members research well and are conscious about their portfolio’s affiliations, interests and ideologies at all times during the conference.

This committee will be an intermediate-level committee, discussing the agenda “Discussion on the Armed Forces Laws in India with special emphasis on Agnipath Scheme and AFSPA”

The Secretariat, with a motive to expand the team for a successful MUN, releases the Organising Committee forms for anyone wanting to be involved and providing their inputs in the process for a successful conference!

Interested students are required to fill the form, the selected candidates would be interviewed, post which the OC members would work with the Secretariat in the field of Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, Finance and Logistics ✨

An offline MUN conference gives you a well-rounded exposure in organising as well as in providing you with networks of people from different regions across India!
