During a panic attack, it's important to remember that you're not alone. These episodes can feel overwhelming, but there are practical steps to manage them.

Firstly, acknowledge what's happening. Recognizing that this is a panic attack can help alleviate some of its power. Breathe deeply and slowly โ€“ focus on your breaths in and out. This simple act can regulate your body's response and bring a sense of control.

Next, engage in grounding techniques. Try to name things around you โ€“ objects, colors, textures. This practice shifts your focus away from the overwhelming sensations and anchors you to the present moment. Additionally, progressive muscle relaxation can ease physical tension. Start by tensing and then relaxing each muscle group, from your toes up to your head.

Challenge the thoughts racing through your mind. Ask yourself: What evidence supports these thoughts? Are there alternative explanations? Often, panic attacks are fueled by irrational fears, and examining them logically can help diminish their intensity.

Seek a safe space. If possible, move to a quiet and comfortable area. Consider reaching out to someone you trust, whether it's a friend, family member, or therapist. Expressing what you're going through can provide immense relief and support.

Remember, managing panic attacks is a process. It involves learning what works best for you. Professional guidance can be incredibly beneficial in developing coping strategies tailored to your individual needs.

Lastly, be kind to yourself. You're enduring something challenging, and it's okay to take time to recover. Self-care activities like gentle exercise, mindfulness practices, or engaging in hobbies can aid in restoring a sense of balance and calm.

Panic attacks are daunting, but by implementing these techniques and seeking support, you can navigate through them and work towards building resilience in managing future episodes. You've got this.

Have you ever walked into a theatre as one personality and left the theatre as a completely different person?
This subconscious phenomenon is called "Experience Taking".
Often when we feel 'sad' we try and opt for a light-hearted movie to make us feel better. Or if we want to cry but don't feel like yet, we may play a sad movie to help us cry.
This is because of the subconscious phenomenon 'experience Taking'.
In experience taking we would borrow or steal the qualities and traits of certain characters that we may like or we may resonate to.
Follow to know how to use 'experience taking' for your benefit.

Nagging harm the parent-child relationship because it's negative!
If you give verbal statements twice, it's called
reminding.
But if you say the statement, let's say three or four times, let me tell you that's "Nagging"!
Parents nag for many reasons and are more likely to do so when feeling overwhelmed. While offering a quick fix at the moment, badgering our kids does
nothing to stop the problem from recurring.
Moreover,it comes at a high cost:
*damaging the parent-child relationship,
*making kids feel incompetent, and
*decreasing the likelihood of them becoming
confident, capable adults.
Trust me, nagging is not at all an effective strategy.
And decreases the likelihood of getting the behavior.
If the child does not do what you ask, request less of the behavior, and then go help the child carries that out, at least in the beginning. When you get a little portion
of the behavior, praise that. Gradually, you could increase the amount of the behavior you get and all without nagging.
Parents can increase extrinsic
motivation by offering age-appropriate rewards.
When moms and dads nag excessively, their children
feel defeated. They figure that they can't do anything right so they might as well stop trying.
Usually repeated prompts will not get the behavior and make the behavior less likely.

Holidays being the most food-centric time of the year can be a slippery slope when it comes to someone with an eating disorder.
You are not alone.
For real, there is a group of individuals with the same obstacles as you.
Here I have listed my 3 best tips for getting through the holiday season without coming out of it feeling guilty, shameful, and demotivated.
Let me know what are you tips to get through this holiday season.

21/12/2022

Is you child a picky or selective eater?
Do let me know of any tricks that your have used.

How can you organise a holiday meal when your child is a selective eater?

1. Communicate with your family and friends. Let them know that you have a picky eater with you. In this way you wouldn't have to sit with the guilt that they have prepared a lot of food and your child isn't eating. Your folks would have a better time understanding since they were informed in advance.

2.Talk to your kiddo. Sit and the child's level and with no baby talk explain the child what behaviour is expected out of them.

3.Keep bite sized foods along with you. Big portions of food can be overwhelming for a picky eater. Keeping bite sized food can help them not get overwhelmed and if they get hungry they can quickly eat something small.

4.Serve something familiar. Trying new foods can make it difficult for the child to stay calm. In this case serve them something that is familiar with them like bread and butter.

5.Focus on celebrating instead of the fuss. Relax! Take a break from stressing about the fuss that your child will make. Focus on making memories and enjoying your time.

6. Join the selective eating workshop for women. I'm with your name, location and desired workshop I.e 'selective eating'.

I present to you, style no 4 out of 4. The authoritarian parenting style.
These parents usually use a โ€œtough loveโ€ kind of style. They believe that they are entirely responsible for the outcomes of their children and hence they would try really hard to manipulate and control every behavior or movement of the child because they don't want anyone else blaming them for the bad behavior of their child.

I present to you, style no 3 out of 4. The neglectful parenting style. Here the parent may be going through problems of their own where they find it difficult to cope. Hence making it difficult to pay attention to the needs of the child. As the name suggests the parent tends to avoid the necessities of the child making them feel unloved or unwanted. Children of neglectful parents often show signs of childhood trauma.

https://mymindgains.wordpress.com/2022/12/14/what-is-a-permissive-parenting-style/

I present to you, style now 1 out of 4. The permissive parenting style. Here the parent is completely focused on seeing the child happy vs what is actually good for them. Sometimes the tough love is necessary but this type of parent would definitely avoid any kind of conflict in order to be liked by the child.
This can stem from a place where the child's needs did not match that of the parents. The parent may have hated their parents when they were children. Hence, now they put their full attempt to be liked by their children.
Wouldn't it be great if your children come with a guidebook? Since they don't, allow me(a psychologist) to help you through parenting.

We often give up on our dreams and ambitions because we feel lost. We aren't lost, we are just tired of finding a new way.
Get up, dust yourself off and find a new way to reach that destination that many are planning on following as well
All the best!

What do you think about this reel?
While preparing someone for the outside world we tend to feed information about the world as we know it. Parents often see the world as a harsh place sue to their experiences and they influence the children to think the same. I understand parents are doing this to protect their children. However to much of this kind of protection can push your children away from you. As they already have a battlefield of the outside world to fight with, a battlefield at home as well will get them exhausted.

09/12/2022

How often have you thought "I won't fight in front of my kids"? We assume that by portraying a healthy relationship our children we would set a good example, but no!
That will just give them the idea that a good relationship is one without arguments. instead of understanding that the can work their way though the arguments.
