The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) was an international organization for collective defense in Southeast Asia created by the Manila Pact, signed in September 1954 in Manila, the Philippines. The organization's headquarters were in Bangkok. Eight members joined the organization: Australia, France, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States. SEATO was dissolved in 1977

Many years before the advent of the space program, an attempt was made to develop an aircraft reactor. A project with acronym NEPA (Nuclear Energy for the Propulsion of Aircraft) was started in 1946 by the U.S. Air Force. The effort was terminated for several reasons, as described in a National Research Council (a) the need for a much larger airplane than expected, (b) improvements in performance of chemically fueled jet engines, and (c) the selection of intercontinental ballistic missiles to carry nuclear weapons. Some useful technical information had been gained, but the project never came close to its objective.

The effort was terminated for several reasons, as described in a National Research Council report (see References): (a) the need for a much larger airplane than expected, (b) improvements in performance of chemically fueled jet engines, and (c) the selection of intercontinental ballistic missiles to carry nuclear weapons. Auschwitz camp was a complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps operated by N**i Germany in occupied Poland during World War II and the Holocaust.

In the decades since its liberation, Auschwitz has become a primary symbol of the Holocaust. In 2005 the United Nations General Assembly designated 27 January, the date of the camp's liberation, as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
