Peshaz is an Indo-Western sustainable fashion and brand based in UAE.

of Peshaz is primarily a lotus bud raising up to bloom in the water. The word ‘Peshaz’ means embroidery in Sanskrit. Thus, the logo is presented as an embroidery pattern in a hoop. As the brand is focused on environmental sustainability , we have chosen lotus as it is one of the most regenerative and quality silk material in the world. The lotus silk, which has a very long tradition, is majorly produced in India and other south asian countries - which weaves in the Indian characteristic of the brand!

“I like to write”- I told him. I didn’t sound bold; rather I was skeptical about the two men sitting in front of me with their cold eyes gazing straight into mine. The grey hairs and baldness that slowly invaded their attire, thick-framed spectacles, and ridiculous smile that they wore kept on announcing that they were ‘someone who knew every possible thing’. They had expectations of me. They had expectations of everyone who waited behind the glass door, and that realization increased the distance between us, slowly pulling my chair back into another corner of this world. From each of our perspectives, the other seemed incredibly tiny.

A weight was slowly instilled in my soul – so heavy that I couldn’t speak any longer. But my brain spoke instead and the sound of it still echoes inside me like the waves of a distressed sea. I was then unaware of the word “stereotyping”, maybe because I didn’t read much. Yet, how could someone born in this continent – that too an experienced journalist - think that any kid who was born in the same space and in a difference of just 20 years of time was ‘given’ the freedom of reading a lot or at least a little for that matter! 

Do they actually think that words like ‘freedom, opportunity, information, and choice’ has anything to do in the life of a GIRL – with the dream of being a journalist - born at one of the remotest location of the state? Sitting for my first interview for a trainee post at the age of 23 after completing a post-graduation (which I thought mandatory) in the subject itself was a win. It took me 10 years of constant fight against the world around me. And the man sitting in front of me sounded like - you ought to have an understanding and supportive family, society, teachers, peon, friends and a lot more like money and a village with good infrastructural facilities to become a journalist.
