So sad to see that Tibetan Delight, a Kolkata institution for 40 years, has been shut down by the pollution authorities. Their momo and thukpa were legendary, and their prices were unbeatable.

If you're a Kolkata foodie, you know this place. It was a tiny hole-in-the-wall joint at the end of a narrow lane, but it was always packed with students, young professionals, and anyone else who loved delicious and affordable Tibetan food.

The owners are trying to comply with the regulations so they can reopen, but it's unclear when or if that will happen. In the meantime, Kolkata's food scene is a little bit dimmer without Tibetan Delight.

A gloomy weather call for some tangy treat to my pallet.
It takes two to tango, so I decided to drop in at to spice up the evening. I am already impressed by their continental offerings so I wanted to try their Indian affairs. So opted for a half tandoori chicken. The waitstaff had requested for additional time upfront.
After some anticipated wait of 20 minutes, my plate of decorated tandoori chicken arrived on the table. Impressed by the portion size and look, I digged in the first morsel. Tangy, spicy and melt in the mouth. After long long time, I had some amazing well done tandoori chicken licking my finger till the last flesh fall apart from the bone.
Though a located inside GSM Mall, I hope it stays long to give "food lovers" the quality.

To start my epicurean journey, I relished a bowl of Chicken Tom Yum Soup, a harmonious blend of robust flavors and tantalizing spices. The first bite of the Chicken and Straw Mushroom Stu Mai Dimsums revealed a burst of succulent goodness, perfectly complemented by a dipping sauce that elevated the dish to new heights.

The Teriyaki Chicken appetizer delighted my senses with its luscious glaze, showcasing a masterful balance of sweet and savory. The Mains brought forth a symphony of flavors: the Fish in Roasted Garlic Sauce boasted a divine marriage of tender fish and aromatic garlic, while General Tao's Chicken offered a tantalizing blend of tanginess and crunch. The Stir Fried Chinese Greens added a refreshing touch of verdant goodness to the meal.

Accompanying these delectable delights were the Burnt Garlic Vegetable Fried Rice and Wok Tossed Vegetable Hakka Noodles from the Rice & Noodles section, each dish featuring a medley of perfectly cooked vegetables intertwined with enticing flavors that danced on my palate.

To culminate this extraordinary feast, I indulged in the exquisite desserts. The Honey Noodles provided a delightful combination of crispy sweetness, while the Steamed Coconut Dumplings with Honey Butter Sauce, paired with velvety Vanilla Ice Cream, created a heavenly finale to this unforgettable culinary adventure.

All this “Best of Mainland China” was presented as part of their enticing 10-course set lunch food promotion, priced at a mere INR 745++. To add to the experience, the restaurant also offered a selection of mocktails at a mere INR 99 extra, making it a complete and gratifying gastronomic journey.

In conclusion, my experience at this Mainland China restaurant was an exquisite amalgamation of flavors, textures, and aromas that transported me to the heart of Chinese cuisine.
