and Mr returned home today upon discharge from Delhi ~ Mrs Verma was admitted in the hospital for 3 weeks and Mr Verma for a week ~ January 8, 2024
and both were discharged from , Delhi today. Mrs Veena Verma was admitted for chest infection and kidney issues on the 19th December 2023 and Mr Abhishek Verma on the 1st January 2024 for chest infection and influenza H1 viral strain.
We thank our relatives, friends and well-wishers for all the prayers, pujas and good wishes that were sent for their speedy recovery and good health. Our family remains indebted to your kindness and love!
Doctors have advised them both for continued bedrest and treatment at home to regain their strength in the month of January 2024.

Health update: Mr Abhishek Verma

Influenza H1 type A infection subsided.
Fever gone
Cough gone
BP and vitals normal
Shortness of breath continues due to 20% area of the lungs damaged due to pulmonary fibrosis.
Doctors are planning discharge from Max Hospital on Monday 8th January 2024 evening. However treatment to continue at home.

1st January 2024 - Monday
Mr Abhishek Verma was admitted to Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi today due to partial right lower lung collapse and other chest related ailments.
Mr Verma’s high grade 101-102’F fever and dry cough remained uncontrolled since 28th December 2023 and it did not subside even after round the clock medication at home. Multiple Covid tests were however negative.
Therefore, on the advice of pulmonary doctors, hospitalization became mandatory.
Mr Verma is conscious and currently on IV drip for medicines and fluids.
Due to high degree of lung infection visitors are prohibited for the time being till infection subsides in a few days.

medical update: Condition critical due to chest infection and kidneys malfunction. On hemo-dialysis. Strong antibiotics are being administered on her at the ICU of MAX Hospital, Delhi. Prayers work faster than medicines in such cases.

मेरी माँ श्रीमती वीणा वर्मा 82 साल की चट्टान, डायलिसिस से लड़ते हुए भी मुस्कुराती हैं! हिम्मत उनकी रौशनी बनकर चमकती है. अंका, मेरी पत्नी, दिन-रात माँ का फरिश्ता बनकर खड़ी हैं. बेटी निकोल का प्यार हर पल ताक़त देता है. इस लड़ाई में परिवार साथ है, माँ की मुस्कान जीत का यक़ीन दिलाती है.
Life throws curveballs, some harder than others. For the past two days, my mother 82-year-old warrior queen, Mrs. , has been facing the challenge of dialysis with her trademark spirit - a smile that could brighten even the sterile walls of a hospital.
Mom's resilience is a constant source of inspiration. Watching her navigate this new hurdle with such grace and courage has been humbling and empowering. Her positive attitude is a testament to the incredible strength that lies within her.
But Mom isn't on this journey alone. By her side, like a guardian angel, is my rock - my wife, .
Anca's dedication and care know no bounds. She's there day and night, anticipating every need, offering comfort with every touch, and sharing Mom's smiles and tears.
Our daughter has imbibed all the positive values from our family and has been shuttling between her school, home and the hospital, nonstop.
Witnessing their bond, forged in love and selflessness, has been a beautiful reminder of the power of family.
This experience has reminded me of the invaluable role mothers play in our lives. They are the anchors of our storms, the wind beneath our wings, and the sunshine on our darkest days. Their love is unconditional, their strength unmatched, and their presence a blessing beyond measure.
To Mom, for showing us what courage looks like, thank you. You are a force of nature, and we are forever grateful for your light.
To Anca, for being Mom's pillar of strength, our love and admiration know no bounds. You are the definition of a loving wife and a compassionate daughter-in-law.

Abhishek Verma
Abhishek Verma was born on 23 February 1968 in New Delhi to a family of politicians. Shrikant Verma, his father, was a well-known journalist of his time. He later joined the Indian National Congress, upon the insistence of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was later made a Member of Parliament in 1976, and later, the General Secretary of Congress Party.
Veena Verma, Abhishek Verma’s mother, has also been an active politician. She served as a Member of Parliament for 14 years, and was later appointed as the Vice President of Indian National Congress. She has also served as the Chief of the Mahila Congress.
A Hindu College graduate, Abhishek Verma pursued higher studies from Georgetown University, Washington DC. Later, he started working as the Editor-Publisher of a monthly magazine for Non-Resident Indians, named India Worldwide in the US.
Upon moving back to India, Indian National Congress was keen to nominate him to contest the 1996 Lok Sabha elections. However, Abhishek Verma turned down the proposal, as he was in the process of setting up a mega business venture of his own.
