Quarterly on Architecture and Urban Design
Publisher of Works and Ideas on Architecture, Building, City,
Town Planning Art, Drawing, and Construction
Sharestan is an independent quarterly journal of architecture published in Iran. Most of previous issues were monographs of Iranian architects practicing either in Iran or abroad. Ever since the recent reform of the editorial board, each issue will address a central subject and therefore all
different materials provided will focus on one particular discussion. We aim to raise the subject issue pr
operly. As in the humanities fundamentals rest in the details, we endeavor to discuss contemporary subjects from different angles and with more particulars. As newly planned, each issue of Sharestan follows three main sections:
1/The first section named as Internal View is meant to be reviewed and considered by Iranian Architects. Herein, we wish to push concepts and general definitions, dominant in the theoretical fields of contemporary climate of Iranian architecture, towards realism and actual fields.
2/ The second section, International View, reverberates international architects’ view points and perspectives. Engendering interactions is what we are effectively pursuing, as to us this is a major prerequisite for any type of development and growth.
3/ Others’ View is the third section, in which we employ thoughts and theories offered by other thinkers from human sciences, social sciences, art and media, economy and politics. Doing so, we mean to present architecture as an avant-garde movement-generator culture in the societies.
