Student visit to the “Biblioteca IsIAO” section of the National Central Library of Rome.
Thanks to Professor Michela Clemente and the researchers who work in this section, we retraced the long history of this Institute, visiting its archives and admiring some pieces of the IsIAO collection kept and studied here. From the historical photographic archive of the last century, which preserves images coming from the Ministry of Italian Africa, to the Tibetan manuscripts collected by Giuseppe Tucci, passing through Sanskrit texts from Nepal, our students were able to learn about the cultural and documentary importance of these collections and the work that happens behind the scenes.

Thanks to all those who joined us today in the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr.
In honor of this holiday, we tasted typical food of your countries, discussed about your customs and admired your traditional clothes.

💡“Luoghi di memoria. Comunità yezida e spazio sacro”

On the 14th of March the photographic exhibition “Luoghi di memoria. Comunità yezida e spazio sacro” has been inaugurated at the Biblioteca Europea in Rome.
The exhibition explores the profound bond that binds the Yazidi community of the Autonomous Region of Iraqi Kurdistan to their ancestral sacred places. The mosaic of faces and landscapes unfolds the memory of an indigenous tradition that has deep roots in the cultural history of the area, but which due to its religious particularism has been the subject of marginalization and violence.

In the gallery, the exhibition launch event attended by Fiorella Virgili (Director of the Biblioteca Europea), Gianfilippo Terribili (Vice Director of MAIKI-Italian Archaeological Mission in Iraqi Kurdistan), Adriano V. Rossi (President of the ISMEO), Soran Ahmad (President of the Istituto Kurdo), Ghiath Rammo (Archaeologist, Curator of the exhibition).
