Tourisme Accessible N°2 15/04/2021

🇬🇧While the health crisis has brought the tourism economy to a halt, tourism actors will have to relaunch their activity by integrating all the expectations of the public. Accessible tourism is no longer a minority tourism, but a tourism that generates economic benefits. Professionals will be able to capitalize on the prospects offered in the short term, particularly by major sporting events (the World Ski Championships, the World Rugby Championship in 2023, the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024), to reinforce and improve accessibility. We invite you to read the report on this subject in the second issue of the magazine of the Association Tourisme & Handicaps.

Yesterday was World Tourism Day ! Its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. The Secretary-General of the United Nations calls for global awareness: "Everyone has the right to equal access to leisure and tourism. However, 1 billion persons with disabilities worldwide (...) still face barriers in accessing the basic elements of travel, such as clear and reliable information, efficient transport and public services, and a physical environment in which it is easy to get around. In many tourist areas, nothing is being done to accommodate visually, hearing, mobility and cognitive impaired people, despite modern technology". Universal accessibility in tourism is a shared responsibility of all stakeholders in the tourism value chain, including our EU project Tour Friends !

23/09/2020

Today we celebrate the International Day of Sign Languages.

Through actions like the European disability strategy and the European accessibility act, we are working to remove barriers that prevent deaf and hard of hearing people from participating fully in work and public life.

In 2021 we will present a new and strengthened European disability strategy. Together we will build a !
