Alberto Rossi ’The Messenger': it is a small table but with a great atmosphere. Painted at the end of the 19th century, it is an admirable example of the orientalist current which finds inspiration and potential in the light, colors and architecture of North Africa. The author is one of the most authoritative and well-known expert of this current in Italy.

'The embroiderer' Giulio Boetto. Rare work by the artist who is known above all for his Piedmontese landscapes and for the scenes of daily life in the squares. This work must be read, first of all, by observing the date and contextualizing it. The year is 1917. The painter is young (not even thirty), he is not yet so famous and the world is crossed by the tragedy of a war that hasn't ended but whose devastating effects are beginning to be rationalised. This art is rare for this artist but it can well fit into a sort of need for an intimate recollection and concentration in his work. Well exemplified by an embroiderer who must be focused and precise and cannot let other thoughts disturb her. Basically it is a message for the future (and those who are young have a long one ahead): a job in solitude, a sort of secular prayer, a silent roar against war and bad omens. Nothing more current!

This sculpture can be defined as primitive and intense as this figure draws its intensity from the gaze and the freshness of youth so beautifully portrayed. The artist reaches a high level of expression by fully exploiting the possibilities that the art of sculpture offers in modeling light and shadows obtaining an effect of 'vitality' on the surfaces of the face.

The pointillist vision of art is fully condensed in the beautiful painting by Pietro Morando. Although much further back in time (we are in the 20s of the twentieth century) the painting presents all the stylistic features of divisionism, creating that extraordinary effect of pristine light and color. It strikes and attracts us (and so the pointillists wanted) by enveloping our eyes in pure and modern color. In some respects today's vision 4K. The painter will soon abandon this style; therefore this truly attractive painting is representative of a brief moment in the artist's career.
