🇮🇹 Il Culbianco è un migratore a lungo raggio 🌍, ampiamente distribuito da oriente e occidente tra Nord America, Europa, Medio Oriente e Asia centrale.

Lungo dai 14 ai 16 cm, non raggiunge i 30 grammi di peso. 📐 Sono piuttosto marcate le differenze tra i due sessi: il maschio ha capo e dorso grigio cenere, sopracciglio bianco, guance nere, petto che sfuma nel color crema e base della coda bianchi. La femmina è di colore bruno chiaro, con sopracciglio giallo paglierino.

Prevalentemente insettivoro, il Culbianco si ciba di insetti e qualche bacca. Gli individui più giovani preferiscono invece le larve.

Il Culbianco frequenta ambienti aperti e secchi. È molto resistente e possiede una buona capacità di adattamento, caratteristica che gli consente di nidificare in ambienti anche molto differenti. 📚

Con l’arrivo della stagione degli amori, il Culbianco difende una piccola porzione di territorio dalla presenza di altri individui della specie, rimarcandone chiaramente l’appartenenza.
🇬🇧 The Northern wheatear is a long-range migrant 🌍, widely distributed east-west between North America, Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.

14 to 16 cm long, it does not reach 30 grams in weight. 📐The differences between the two sexes are quite marked: the male has ash gray head and back, white eyebrow, black cheeks, breast fading to cream color and white tail base. The female is light brown, with a straw-yellow eyebrow.

Predominantly insectivorous, the wheatear feeds on insects and a few berries. Younger individuals prefer larvae instead.

The Northern wheatear frequents open, dry environments. It is very hardy and has good adaptability, a characteristic that allows it to nest in even very different environments.📚

With the arrival of the mating season, the northern wheatear defends a small portion of its territory from the presence of other individuals of the species, clearly marking its membership.
