“It’s a bit of gaslighting. It’s like you’re NOT ALLOWED to say: I can’t do this”

“I felt the need to re-familiarise myself with the term because it felt sort of out of date … it’s has not been a static thing and it hasn’t been visible … my pain could not be seen”

What are misconceptions of ?

“When you are disabled, you can’t be cute, you can’t be employed, you can’t take care of anybody else, you must be incapable of joy or anything else … I can do some of these things so this is confusing”

“These doctors are going to look at them and tell them to go home because they are not able to speak up for themselves”

This is why advocacy, connection and change is critical

“Approaches to complex illness are different … people with [are like boats that] have 10 anchors ⚓️ … we need to try pull the last anchor up”

“It’s a cluster of symptoms, it is not just fatigue, but the fatigue is unlike anything else”

“It’s like hitting a brick wall … there’s just nothing left to draw from”

“I feel like a rag doll that’s been run over by a bus”
