iPhone 16 to Include Action Button Across Entire Lineup

The release of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max saw the introduction of an entirely new user-configurable button known as the Action button, and now, MacRumors has seen extensive evidence confirming Apple is planning to include the Action button on the entire iPhone 16 range.

the one currently found on the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌, and more closely resembling the volume buttons in size. The Action button has been seen on multiple ‌iPhone 16‌ prototype units, and has also appeared in internal documentation related to the new devices.

The Action button is also set to appear on the next iteration of the budget-oriented iPhone SE fourth-generation reportedly planned for a 2025 launch, thereby effectively eliminating the dedicated mute switch from all future iPhones currently in development.

While it remains unlikely that Apple's plans will change, it is important to consider that the information presented here is pre-production information, and may not necessarily reflect what eventually ships on mass production units as we are still many months away from finalized hardware designs.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Galaxy S23 Ultra: Spotting design differences!

Yesterday, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S24 series renders that revealed the phones’ design. While the Galaxy S24 and S24+ feature flat frame design, the S24 Ultra apparently brings the narrowest bezel in history. The same source now posted cropped images so you can better understand the design changes.

Samsung has slightly changed the aspect ratio of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This results in changes in the middle frame, and ditches the curved edges, indicating a flat display design. In the video below, you can see the transformation of the S23 Ultra into the upcoming S24 Ultra device.

As you can see in the comparison renders, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an almost flat design as compared to its predecessor. The company has already reduced the curvature with the S23 Ultra this year, and it’s going to be flat, starting with the S24 Ultra next year.

Here's What We Know
iPhone 15 was the first line of Apple smartphones, in which the proprietary Lightning connector was replaced by a USB-C port. With its help you can charge the phone or connect an external device. As MacRumors reports, to top up the battery in the iPhone 15 can not be every powerbank.

As it became known, not all portable batteries that have a USB-C connector can work correctly when connecting the iPhone 15. In most cases, the problem manifests itself only in the fact that the smartphone does not charge. However, there are situations when iPhone 15 takes on the role of a portable battery and starts charging a powerbank.

The problem has been observed in a number of devices. For example, Anker has stated that in order to charge the iPhone 15 with the PowerCore Slim 10k PD Powerbank, you must use the USB Type-A connector exclusively.

It is believed that the problem is related to the peculiarities of the implementation of the reverse wired charging function in Apple smartphones, which allows you to quickly give some mA*h to the AirPods headphones or Apple Watch smart watch.

The issue
Over on Reddit, an iPhone 15 Pro user connected their handset to an Anker power bank to charge. Instead of the phone's battery charging, the iPhone charged the power bank.

This is not how it should work. According to Anker, the remedy is to charge the iPhone via the USB-A port on the power bank.

How can this possibly happen?
The iPhone 15 series of smartphones come with the ability to reverse charge other smaller Apple devices, such as the Apple Watch, Apple AirPods, or another iPhone when using the USB-C charging cable

That's how it should work, but something is triggering this unexpected behavior. There's also a report of an iPhone trying to charge an iPad Pro connected via USB-C cable. Swapping the cable around allowed the iPad Pro to charge the iPhone.

What could be causing it?
It's easy to point the finger at Apple here, but the reason for the mess is much more subtle. You may think that USB-C is a standard, and that the standard is clear and followed by all manufacturers.

What's the solution here?
Apple either needs to improve the way the iPhone 15 detects items to charge or add a software toggle that controls which direction charge flows.
