Definitely a must-read from one of our None in Three Research Centre, Jamaica researchers Patrice Reid.
In her powerful blog, "Perpetration of Child Sexual Violence: It could be you!", Patrice Reid, Researcher at None in Three Research Centre, delves into the pervasive nature of Child Sexual Violence (CSV). She challenges us to break free from biases and understand that perpetrators can be anyone โ family, friends, neighbors, professionals, or even ourselves.
The post provides a detailed exploration of CSV stages and prevention tips, urging readers to foster open communication, believe survivors, and seek help when needed. Reid calls for collective responsibility, challenging us to be agents of change and break the culture of silence.
Read the full blog post for a comprehensive understanding and share to amplify the message. Let's be part of the solution! ๐ https://svri.org/blog/perpetration-child-sexual-violence-it-could-be-you
Ni3 Jamaica is on a mission to stop child sexual abuse (CSA) ๐ฎโจ We're using educational games to spread awareness, build empathy for victims, and tackle the root causes of CSA. Let's play our part in creating a safe and caring environment for every child! ๐ ๐
The facts we're facing reveal a somber snapshot of our current reality. This makes it essential that we prioritize safeguarding our children. ๐ช๐ฝ๐ฆ๐พ๐ง๐พ

๐จ It's important to remember that those who commit child sexual abuse harm often target those who are easily accessible, and sadly, many times, they are known to the victims. Stay vigilant and prioritize your child's safety! ๐ช

Our current project is being carried out in partnership with University of Technology, Jamaica & Teesside University, UK and is funded by the Sexual Violence Research Initiative.
Not surprisingly, it was tough finding male survivors of sexual abuse for our research. The stigma around male victims make it hard for men to open up. But we pressed on and held focus group interviews with young men willing to share their early experiences, and male practitioners working with abused boys. - Powell-Booth, Karyl, et. al. 2021. Our current SVRI-funded project, Play. Talk. Change., will trial the prosocial computer game 'Gabrielle' which was created from our previous work.
