One Sixth Practical

For Phicen’s TPE material, saturated colors are best achieved using oil pastel. The ideal color match to classic Hulk is found in Staedtler’s packs of 25 or 48 or jumbo 24, which I recommend for its ample size. Using a regular size pastel, I nearly ran out before finish! If not Staedtler, choose a high quality brand that claims its waterproof or water resistant.

For best results, stroke over the same patch of skin from different angles. Full coverage for a male body should take around 2 hours. It took me 3 hours but I’m extremely fussy. Mixing color by layer is inadvisable in oil pastel. A secondary application will dilute parts of the first layer and cause unevenness. Also, its colors do not ‘mix’ in the way of paints.

Upon full coverage, prop up a hair dryer on table/chair and massage the body for a few minutes in its heated air. As how oil pastel gets soft in warm hands, that heat will spread the pastel more evenly across the body surface. Next, a thorough wash with dish soap. Just a few drops will remove excess color and lower the saturation for a nice even tone. Without this step, skin surface will look chalky and artificial. Last, brush on baby powder.

As for the recommended pants, even with the aid of baby powder, those particular pants are hard to fit on an M35, but I found the resulting tought and dynamic stretch lines to be worth the effort. Make sure to cut the pants before fitting and careful... jean fabric is thin!

For hands and feet, Tamiya Lacquer paint is essential. Phicen’s male body hands/feet of recent years are found to be Lacquer-coated. Acrylic and enamel paint cannot cure over it and will easily wipe off no matter how long left to dry. Only lacquer cures over lacquer.

To thicken the neck, cut a rubber/silicone tube to a 3cm piece (exact length of neck rod) and split it along its length so that it can be rapped onto the neck rod without resistance.

I am currently sculpting a 1/6 Classic Lou Ferrigno Hulk head of gritted teeth expression and will be crafting a batch of painted rooted heads in the coming months so stay tuned!

In shopping for shoe cream, product images are typically bright so you can see its color, but when an image is too dark, there is a Photoshop trick to help us see its hidden color. With a tweak, we can even generate a preview of how a cream might stain Phicen TPE. SAPHIR’s chart is the example. Photoshop - Image - Adjustments - Selective Color: set slider on Black to minus 100% on all colors except for Reds, Whites, Neutrals & Blacks. Reds: set Cyan to minus 100%, hit OK. Now open Selective Color and repeat this again. If an image is only slightly dark or is saturated plenty, there’s no need to repeat the step.

What you are now seeing is the dilution of all colors except for Red which tend to be the strongest pigment of cream to remain on TPE. Now the truth is revealed! I should guess that some of the colors you might have otherwise chosen are no longer a suitable match to what you needed. For instance, Dark Brown now appears too orange/red for a natural suntan. Most of the light shades of brown appear entirely too orange/red for human skin. But this is great stuff! We’ve just eliminated money wasters to get it right on the first buy. Of SAPHIR’s choice of colors now revealed, I would perhaps select Boar Brown or Mink for a darker suntan, and Brown, Hazel, Khaki or Taupe Grey for a light tan - for their low concentration of red pigmentation over the rest. Each may result in ethnic tan variations. Look closely at those I selected and you’ll see a tiny hint of blue, on par with actual skin. Most of the light colors on chart will barely stain TPE, so select the darkest for any color. Most dark tones will not remain on TPE but they are beneficial to subdue color radiance.

In my experience, its the cheap brand containing petrochemicals as opposed to ‘natural’ ingredients that result in deep coloration on Phicen TPE. SAPHIR’s coloration is decent but not the best. The chart provided is a color demonstration, not a promotion for brand. Save this chart in full resolution at my store’s blog page. Zoom in for closer examination. Test conducted on blue and green cream yielded weak results. Oil Pastel recommended for colors other than reds, oranges and browns of skin tone.

Sharing NEW method! Phicen TBleague M34 body dyed an afro tone using shoe cream.

I had tried fabric dyes, pastel (powdered pigment) and paints that did not hold. The color would either rub off during handling or fully fade over time. DyeMore for synthetic fabrics has excellent visual results but require a 30 minute boil which can damage a TPE body. What finally worked for me was shoe cream. It stains TPE evenly, excess cream is easy to rinse with dish soap, and the coloration is permanent beyond a 2 week period of fade. Best of all, shoe creams come in a wide selection of browns, ideal for human skin tones.

As for brand, some have stronger pigment and some dry faster, but the result is virtually the same for all. The deep coloration can be scary first, but it’ll half fade within 48 hours. To avoid over-coloring, allow 2 weeks to consider if further application is truly necessary. In the event of over-coloring, colorless ‘neutral’ shoe cream can dilute better than soaps.

So far, I have only tested wax-based creams. As for grease-based creams, I cannot say. In applying a wax-based cream to TPE, there can be patches where the pigment seems unable to color. This is likely due to lumps of wax in the cream that is insufficiently mixed in during manufacturing so when applied to TPE, it acts as a shield against the pigment. When this occurs, add further pressure to the patches. Pigment will gradually pe*****te.

For a suntan or a color correction, single applications should take no more than a fifth of a cream jar, while darker skin tones will require up to half a jar with multiple applications. Orange is the dominant color that remains on TPE from most dark brown creams. For a realistic skin tone, find a brown with enough of a blueish tone to counteract the oranges.

Torvus: Customized Dwayne Johnson head sculpt and Phicen body M35. Natural daylight 🔆

Torvus, Latin for 'grim, savage'. As son of a 13th Century Roman Bladesmith, Torvus grew up idolizing Gladiators of the old Empire. Having exhausted the local talent with prize fights, he embarks on a journey east in search of a warrior worthy of his all. In town after town, he made his presence known. Upon defeating a Mongol prize fighter under Venator's watch, Torvus took his place as the one. At a remote secluded coast, Venator approaches Torvus unarmed, palms open wide. Torvus sees this as destiny. To wrestle a mythic beast of legend is dream fulfillment. Laying injured and defeated, he summons a justification. A being of such a strength is surely of a god's descend... Thus Torvus swears allegiance to Venator, the god beast. In newly found humility, Torvus take up his father's craft yet again. At the disciple's secluded hillside lair, Torvus forges blades inspired by Venator's own. Armor-plating decorative trophy items for group is another of his craft. Torvus had once "wrestled" a captive bear while blitzed and was gouged at the neck. With leather vest as cover, he will never again expose neck to neither tooth or blade.

Altor: Customized Schwarzenegger head sculpt and Phicen body M34. Natural daylight 🔆

Altor, Latin for 'Protector', was the first to be recruited by Venator and is the de facto leader of the disciples. Born in 13th Century Iceland to a chieftain, Altor was destined to lead, but his desire to do so perished upon leading his comrade brethren into an ill-fated battle. Haunted by the memory, one day he simply takes off into the wilderness never to return. By his 30s, Altor is a skilled survivalist, at home as any wild beast with the harsh Nordic landscape. Gauging from a far, Venator is impressed by his abilities. The man was worthy of the Yautja's wisdom. But his first contact attempt was near disaster. Altor strikes at sight. Vanator's counter-blow is almost fatal. With brain visible, Altor's cranium had to be surgically sealed utilizing tools made for Yautja anatomy. Waking to find himself saved by the demon he had attempted to slay, Altor's mindset thereafter was the seed to the formulation of the Yautja disciples. In reverence, Altor fashions his leather armor plates to resemble that of Venator. His tactical wisdom has kept the group alive through countless adventures.

Asper: Customized Brad Pitt head sculpt and Phicen body M33. Natural daylight 🔆

Asper, Latin for 'rough, savage'. Like Marco Polo, Asper is born 13th Century Venetian. Losing both parent to illness, Asper joins a gang of thieves, surviving mischief. At age 19, he tracks a caravan of merchants all the way to East Asia ruled by the Kahn dynasty. One day while tracking a boar, Asper notices giant bipedal tracks overlapping that of the boar. "There's something else and it ain't no man." He hastens his pace. Moving into silent proximity, Asper jumps the boar, roping it's neck and riding it like a mule until it bloody collapse. Tiny blades woven into the rope sawed it's writhing neck to virtual decapitation. Venator observes as Asper makes meal of his prey. The track, the kill, the flay... impressive. As he feasts over his campfire, Venator appears over the flames. A demon from hell in a man's wears. It holds out an item, a gift. Keeping dagger at aim in mortal fear, Asper snatches the gift. It is a wild boar tusk, by far the largest he's ever seen. Tension brake was what it took. In honor of that fortuitous night, Asper kept the thigh bone of that boar as a silver-plated trophy.

Pruna: Customized Jessica Alba head sculpt and Phicen body S12D. Natural daylight 🔆

Pruna, Latin for 'Coal'. In a village upon the coast of 13th Century Scotland, a 12 year old daughter screams in pain as a father presses her face to burning coals. Beyond his usual cruelty, on this occasion he keeps a hold until flesh is seared from her cheek. Days later, the girl spikes him with a paralyzing venom. It had taken the girl those days to extract it from a creature's gland, drop by drop. As he lies motionless... she stuffs his gullet with burning coals, slowly baking him from within. On the lam, Pruna joins a travelling band of Gypsies making way to Eastern Europe where she experiments further with venoms and potions gifted to her by a witch doctor. The consequent death toll leads to an encounter with Venator who had followed her trail of poisoning. Pruna approaches the towering demon with calm. Memorized as one might be to a butterfly, she reaches to touch his crustacean-like mandibles. Studying his features like a naturalist, she whispers her allegiance. The vow is to protect the "rarity" that he is. Pruna applies paint to cover her scars though never entirely. Her corset is made of the rib cage of one of her deadly experiments.

Fera: Customized Michelle Rodriguez head sculpt and Phicen body S23B. Natural daylight 🔆

Fera, Latin for 'wild, beast, animal'. As a child of r**e by a Mongolian soldier during the second Mongol invasion of 13th Century Poland, Fera was communally raised by the surviving women of her village, many of whom were now raising their second generation of Mongol ofspring. In an effort to prevent a repeat, Fera and her siblings were sent to the woodlands and told to survive on instinct. Fending off the wolves is a daily challenge without lasting effect. One day her brother is snatched. Fera takes off in chase. Utilizing lichen smoke as cover, she decimates the entire pack with adrenaline and a blade. At the wolf's den... she finds her brother's remains with a litter of wolf pups. Fera takes the pups in her brother's stead. As they mature, the wolves become her guide to the wilderness. One day, the wolves lead her to the tracks of a giant mystery creature. Venator had been observing from a far. Fera is recruited by Altor as Venator's liaison. She is permitted to take one wolf on her quest. She picks the stealthiest. Since losing an eye in a fight, Fera wears a steel crown as protection.

Venator's plasma caster has such an affect on flesh. Recruited to the 'disciples' thereafter, Ramus expertly ascends in the ranks. His athleticism and razor-sharp reflex is a marvel to all. To honor his trial achievements, Venator bestows upon Ramus his only set of armor, complete with a med kit, plasma caster, wrist blades and cloaking tech.
