Our girls' football team participated in the that took place from the 8th-12th of December. The tournament consisted of teams from all over the country.
After drawing in 1 and winning 1 friendly matches, they had the pleasure of meeting Coach Martha Karimi, an ex harambee starlets player and instructor, who later made time and honoured us by visiting the centre.
Coach Martha was accompanied by Coach Mohamed from Academy, who trained the girls briefly and gave them an insight into the world of professional football career and the opportunities they can get if they venture into it.
Wishing our Kenyan people a Happy Jamhuri Day and happy holidays to all 🎊
We were privileged to host Msambweni Law Court and various stakeholders from different sectors at our Centre to commemorate Children Service Month that brought children from our Rescue Centres, Upendo Children's Home and Diani Children's village, together.
The children were informed about their legal rights and the different organisations that can offer assistance if any of their rights are violated.
Our children showcased their talents in drama, taekwondo, and Quran recitation.
We had the absolute pleasure of hosting the team from for a week where they interacted with our children, both at the Rescue Centres and at school, taking them through their wonderful programme on mental health, teaching them self regulation/management and enlightened them on their rights as children.
They also enjoyed a week's long of entertainment activities like talent show and different team building exercises.
We are truly grateful for their visit and stay at the centre as it has left a huge imprint in our children's lives.
Asante Sana 😊
We'd like to appreciate through .z for donating these great tools for our Culinary Arts class.
This support will enable our learners to learn different culinary skills, specifically baking that they have started with.
They will then move to cooking which will then get them opportunities in the hospitality industry.
Last Friday, we took the girls to the supermarket. Of course, we could not leave them out on the shopping treat.
It was as fun as visibly seen in the pictures 😍

It was an absolute honour once again to host for a mental health session with our children. They were divided into three groups, 4-7, 8-12, and 13 and above.
The children really enjoyed talking about healthy habits that contribute to positive mental well-being and learnt a lot from the team of psychologists on what to do whenever they're faced with stress or situations that affect their mental health.
We were pleased to host our 2023 graduation (hafla) at Alwalidayn Madrassa - مدرسة الوالدين الإسلامية. This was to celebrate the graduands who have completed the madrassa primary education (المتوسط), proceeding to higher classes in other institutions.

Introducing our new vocational training block.
As part of our empowerment & capacity building plan, at the Girls Rescue Centre will be offering vocational training classes in several fields including & not limited to:-
1. Art/Music/Photography
2. Tailoring
3. Hair & Beauty (ongoing)
4. Culinary Arts
This is to equip the girls with extra practical skills in fields they are interested/talented in, aside from the formal schooling. This will also enable them to take up employment once they exit the Centre and reintegrate back to society.
We are hereby calling for anyone passionate/professional in those fields to contribute to our project or support in kind by donating equipments/materials to assist us in empowering our girls.
Henna theory classes ongoing by Maryam Rashid.
Maryam joined Alwalidayn Girls Rescue Centre in 2020 together with her sisters from a very humble background under the orphan & needy category.
After completing her primary schooling, she opted for Hair/Beauty & henna course where she was lucky enough to be the first student to undergo the training within the Centre facilitated & sponsored by our long-term supporter & friend Mrs. Amina,
Maryam is now employed as a Matron & Instructor of the class of Hair/Beauty & Henna, whilst she also sees clients every once in a while.
It's Friday and amongst the most important sunnahs of this day is to proceed to the Mosque early to be in the first rows and to listen to the Friday sermon attentively.
Alwalidayn Masjid, situated along the Ukunda-Ramisi Rd, offers ample space for worshippers to pray in congregation and a safe/peaceful environment for worship.
The Mosque also serves as a pit stop/resting area for travellers using the highway.
The Friday prayer starts from 12:30pm
Normal Mosque timings: 04:00am - 22:00pm
Alwalidayn Centre offers multiple volunteering opportunities to young professionals who'd wish to give back and simultaneously gain experience in various fields including:

Happy faces in a happy place 😊
Such a proud moment for Alwalidayn Girls Rescue Centre as we see off one of our girls, Rehema Ali, to Machakos for Nationals U16 Ball games.
Rehema plays number 6 and is the only student selected from Kwale County primary schools to play at the National level.
We wish her well and pray she proceeds further 🙏
Last Friday, we were privileged to host grade 3 students from Swikunda Primary School, which was part of their CBC Integrated Learning.
They were given a brief tour of the Rescue Centre by our girls and had gathered a few items that they donated to us.
At Alwalidayn Centre, we love visitors and pride ourselves in our hospitality, so come visit us!
We are happy to receive a team from INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL AID, who volunteered to do a medical camp at the Centre. Over 200 patients were attended. A big thank you to the team from the US, UK and Kenya for the wonderful work you are doing #
